2. Positano is one of the most upscale holiday destinations in Italy. The streets have
shops, fancy restaurants, cove beaches and clear waters.

Positano was a port in medieval
times. By the mid-nineteenth
century more than half the
population emigrated, mostly
to U.S.A.
Positano was a poor fishing village
but it began to attract large numbers
of tourists in the 1950s.

Positano is a sophisticated
village situated on the
central Amalfi Coast, Italy.O
5. WHAT TO SEE
The Torri Saracene, sighting towers built to defend the
area from pirates;
The Church of Santa Maria Assunta;
The beautiful beaches of Spiaggia Grande and Fornillo,
which can be reached only on foot, and the other
beaches of La Porta and San Pietro Laurito mostly
accessible only from the sea;
Boat trips to the Li Galli Islands , 3 miles off the coast;

Accommodations in Positano are upscale. A variety of villas are available for rent in
the town and the surrounding countryside.
