Working Title:
Blank Pages
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
The audience for my short film are malesand femalesaged between 13-21. This is because
my short film is about a songwriter struggling to write a song in a short period of time. I feel
that both genders between 13-21 will understand and appreciate it a lot more than a
younger audience, however this doesn’t mean that it wont be suitable to for all agesto view
as it wont contain bad language, drug use of violence. The social status Is Between the
working class and lower middle class and the psychographic is emulator, as I believe the
people who’ll be interested In the idea want to appear like an achiever. There is no specific
sexuality so gay/lesbian, heterosexuals and bisexuals are all welcome to watch it.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words):
Throughout the year I’ve picked up a few skills and facts that will have an impact on my
short film. These skills include camera operation skills, techniques and experience.
Furthermore I also have experience in editing however my skills aren’t the best. I’ve used
Premier pro to edit my existing work. These skills come from the first week of the short film
rotation. The video game rotation as we used premier pro to add sound effects to the game.
And finally the IRN-BRU Project where we used Premier Pro to edit our TV advertisements
and add sound effects to the advergames. These Skills will be used when editing my final
short film where I will have to join clips together in the correct order and add sound effects
to these clips effectively. If this is done Inadequately the overall outcome will be lowered.
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words):
The general outcome of my short film involves an aspiring songwriter who is struggling to
write a new song. He then starts writing a catchy song, which he later realises, is already a
popular song that he’s heard before. The film starts with the songwriter sitting down to a
blank piece of paper and a pencil to which he starts writing and doodling. The films ends
with the radio playing the song he thought were an original when in fact it was already a
popular song. I will need to research a famous melody to which he can think he created.
Furthermore These is a scene in the movie a clockwork orange which I wish to recreate in
my own style, this scene is the one on the bedroom where the camera stays In one place
but the characters moving around and is sped up in editing. Furthermore I wish to research
the film ‘Frank’, as there is a similar concept in the beginning of the movie. I will research
this to make sure my short film is different enough to not be a copy of theirs without
changing the concept. The main character is a friend of mine who is studying lvl3 music so
they’re able to play a variety of instruments so I don’t need to research that.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/

Production Techniques (approx. 150 words):
I believe that all the specialist techniques shall be done in post-production except for the
making and recording of the sound effects, which shall be done after the film recording is
done. In post production I shall import all the footage and sound effects into Premier Pro
and label them in the right order to avoid confusion. When recording the sound effects I
shall do this in a silent as possible room to avoid foreign sounds. The sound effects
shouldn’t be too hard to create as they’re simple sounds, which can be easily recorded. The
sounds effects shall mostly be sounds created from the instruments, which can actually be
recorded at the time of filming. The other sound effects like paper scrupling and pencils
tapping will be recorded after filming. I will require some specialist equipment, which
includes a 600D camera to record on, a tripod to keep the camera still and steady, an SD
card to save the footage to and a sound recorder to record the sound effects on. I don’t
need any Training or demos, as I’m fully aware on how to use all of this equipment
effectively and safely.
What specialist techniques do you need to consider? (e.g. green screen, Steadicam, post-
production, sound, etc)
Does this require any specialist equipment/training/demos?
Evaluation (approx. 50 words):
When it comes to evaluation, I will use a variety of ways to evaluate my work. Pier feedback
shall be one of the more important ways I will evaluate, other ways include analysing my
work to the original story board to make sure its as close as possible and self reflection. I
shall reflect on how well my audience research and target audience fit. The aesthetic and
technical qualitieswill also be evaluated.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
