SPAG
1. Alex Inkster
Spelling punctuation and grammar is all about what it says, Spelling things correctly, good use of
punctuation and correct use of grammar. It is important that this is taken into account for written
communication as if what you are presenting doesn't have the correct SPAG (Spelling Punctuation
and Grammar), thenthe people whoare readingit won’tbe able read what you have written, itwill
also make what you are presenting unclear to the audience and the message you are trying to
communicate could be lost.
Grammar is importantas it will make sure that what you are sayingmakessense.Thiswill thenhelp
to getyour pointacross to the audience, thisisbecause what youare sayingwill make scene andcan
be understood.Anexampleof badgrammarwouldbe “where rugoing?”this wouldn'tbe acceptable
in an office environment.
Spellingisimportantasitmakessure thatthe wordsthat
youuse are correct and make sense to the audience. For
example you could be talking about clicking a link to a
website, and instead of putting “click” in the
presentation, you could put “lick” this will then confuse
the audience.The mostcommonmistake isthe different
there’s and where’s.
Punctuationisimportantas it will keepthe presentation
nice andsmoothforreading.WhatImeanbythisisif you
have a long sentence and you don’t have any full stops,
or commas, thenit will be difficulttoread.Alsocommas
help to break sentences up for example “let’s eat
Grandma” and “let’s eat, Grandma”.
