5. Executive Summary
The year 2008 marked the launch of “Proud to
be Kuwaiti” (P2BK) - a nonprofit organization
founded by Mr. Dhari Hamad Al-Wazzan with
the aim of reaching out to the Kuwaiti youth
by means of organizing an annual event which
provides them with a platform to showcase
their talents and receive publicity through
print and digital media channels.
6. The aim of P2BK rests on supporting and highlighting the energy of
Kuwait’s youth that exists in various fields organizing activities,
events, and national contributions, while simultaneously tackling
obstacles that hinder their development.
Furthermore, P2BK aims to establish itself as Kuwait’s leading
non-profit organization that sponsors and supports small and
medium-sized enterprises (SME). We seek to emphasize the
importance of non-profit organizations within Kuwaiti society as well
as their pivotal role in building appreciation for volunteerism amongst
the young generation.

13. P2BK’s 7th
Forum
Kuwait’s first and largest youth forum
embraced approximately 1533 projects over
seven years. Since 2008, P2BK has succeeded in
contiuously attracting more visitors each year in
addition to gaining large media exposure in
cooperation with many of Kuwait’s largest
private sector companies.
Having completed P2BK’s 7th forum, we were
able raise the bar once again for all non-profit
youth organizations in terms of participation
size, visitor turnout, media coverage and
community engagement. The forum lasted for
over one month and coincided with the
national holiday’s.
14. P2BK’s inspiration to build a village based on Kuwaiti heritage came from
a drawing depicting 17th-century Kuwait by a formation artist named
Assad Bunashi and was supervised by historian Bashar Khalifoh.
The village was built on a 20,000 sq/m space in a record time of only 27
days, attracting attention from spectators in surrounding countries from
private and public sectors. These factors contributed to attracting a record
number of 400,000 visitors during the 6th forum’s 14-day duration.
The Traditional Village
15. • A 15 sq/m area representing the desert area of old Kuwait.
• “Al-Dasmah” Café area – the sand sculptures were removed from this
location and substituted with an area designated for international cafes.
• “Al-Furdah” area provides more space to accommodate customers
and companies.
• More Non-profit org. booths
• More space was granted to “Tal bhaita” area “Kids area”
• Men’s & Women’s mosque within the village.
• Designated smoking areas
• All-new decoration and theme throughout the entire village
What’s new at P2BK’s 7th
Village
16. Eager to attract a larger slice of the Kuwaiti youth and
meet all tastes, the organizing committee has decided
to open the door to small businesses that have an
interest in selling pet accessories as part of P2BK’s new
‘Badia’ area which located outside the fence.
Events & Activities
17. Events & Activities
The organizing committee was keen on a merger
between entertainment and educational events to
attract a greater number of visitors, and played host to
global entertainment companies and artists competent
to ensure consistent footfall to the village for the
1-month duration of the forum.

19. Remal International Festival is a unique
celebration of entertainment and the arts.
The first of its kind in the GCC and the
largest in the world, Remal aims to restore
Kuwait’s image as a leading regional tourist
destination. The festival is a unique blend
between sand sculpture and literary
storytelling where scenes from the 1001
Arabian Nights are vividly depicted to
reimagine classic tales such as Sinbad’s
Voyage and Aladdin & the Wonderful Lamp.
For the first time, a sand sculpture event
unifies under a single theme to dazzle
audiences with outstanding creativity and
world-class artistic performances.
Remal International Festival
20. Our Mission
To organize a global annual festival that
integrates the art of sand sculpting with
sound and visual effects while reviving a rich
literary heritage through the adoption of a
new novel each year.
21. To establish the world’s greatest sand sculpting
event that consistently attracts the most
talented artists, employing their creativity to
highlight the wealth of humanity’s literary
heritage throughout the world.
Our Vision

Kuwaiti sand is the
world’s best for
sand sculpting
Remal Village was built on 30,000 square meters using more than
35,000 tons of sand to create the largest sand sculpture park the
world has ever seen. The village is surrounded by a wall of various
heights and connected by a series of towers.
A prized international team of 73 of the world’s leading sand art
pioneers and experts harnessed their creativity to build the
sculptures using the latest technology. Their collective participation
in Remal International Festival has successfully advanced the sand
sculpting field to a higher level.
Some of the sculptures at Remal Village constitute the largest of
their kind in the world while simultaneously maintaining the highest
levels of creativity. For the first time ever, visitors have the
opportunity to move through, around and climb onto the sculptures.

26. Logo Rationale
Remal International Festival is the embodiment of
an ambitious vision belonging to its Founder &
President, Mr. Dhari Hamad Al-Wazzan, to create
the world's largest and one-theme based sand
sculpting event. Inspired from human literary
heritage and combined with spectacular visual
effects and shows, Remal International Festival has
set new standards for sand sculpting and reshaped
the industry with some of the largest sand
sculptures ever made.
The identity of the festival is based on Arabic
calligraphy, where form, motion and colors come
together to reflect authenticity and originality while
conveying a clear message about the brand.
