4. Activity (1, 2)
⢠Activity 1 : changing
polymer pellets
⢠Activity 2 : Hunting for
polymer products.
Soil moist (polyacrylamide) is a
synthetic polymer when placed in
water can absorb over 200 times of
their weight .
We used internet to search about natural
and synthetic polymer and their
properties also the meaning of the
recycling codes.
5. Activity (3,4)
⢠Activity 3 : comparing the
viscosity of liquids
In this activity we explore the
effect of polymerâs molecular
weight and concentration on
the viscosity of polymer
solutions .
⢠Activity 4 : testing the
strength of different
polymer films
In this activity we tested and
compared the stretch ability
and tensile strength of polymer
films having different molecular
weights .
6. Design project
⢠In this activity we applied knowledge gained
about polymers to design a humidity sensor
made from polymer film. Which change colors
according to the humidity level .
⢠Design project : Designing a humidity sensor
8. Anti Microbial Tooth Brush
Introduction
⢠Toothbrushes are commonly used for oral care.
⢠Toothbrushes may play a significant role in disease transmission
and increase the risk of infection since they can serve as a
reservoir for microorganisms in healthy, oral-diseased and
medically ill adults.
⢠In an assessment of microbial contamination of toothbrush
head: an in vitro study, they used 40 tooth brushes and kept it in
the bathroom in different conditions.
9. Anti Microbial Tooth Brush
Introduction
⢠Micro-organisms such as (Streptococcus
mutans, Staphylococcus aureus,
Pseudomonas, Lactobacillus, Klebsiella,
Escherichia coli) were found in isolated and in
clumps form in the tooth brush.
⢠toothbrush is an environment for growth of
micro-organisms, which not only affects the
oral health but also affects the general health
of an individual.
10. Anti Microbial Tooth Brush
Aim of the project
⢠Microbes which attach to, accumulate, and
survive on toothbrushes may be transmitted
to the individual causing disease.
⢠The aim of this project to use Anti-microbial
polymer Poly(ethylene glycol) in brush bristles
of the tooth brush, to prevent the brush from
contamination.
11. Anti Microbial Tooth Brush
Methods and Materials
Poly(ethylene glycol)
The antimicrobial additives will be introduced into the bristle
during manufacturing process to provide lasting protection from
microbes
13. Anti Microbial Tooth Brush
Results
⢠Using Anti-microbial polymer Poly(ethylene
glycol) in the tooth brush bristles is
recommended as an excellent method of
inhibiting bacterial growth and decreasing the
bacteria in the toothbrush.
14. Anti Microbial Tooth Brush
Recommendations: (âŤ)اŮŘŞŮŘľŮاتâŹ
⢠We recommend that other types of Anti-
microbial polymers could be used with the
suggested type.
⢠More researches could be done to improve
the project idea.
15. Conclusions
(Overall of the whole module)
⢠Polymers have different properties and can be
used for many applications, we hope that our
idea will be developed into a product and
used by everyone
