3. Introduction
Light usually refers to visible
light, which is electromagnetic
radiation. The light we see is
a type of electromagnetic
wave that is visible to the
human eye.
Manipulation of light is the
skillful handling, controlling or
using light.
4. Activity 1: Light and their spectrum
To make a spectroscope …
1. Cut the CD to 1 circle of the size
of the toilet paper roll diameter.
2. Cut the black paper to 2 circles
of the size of the toilet paper roll
diameter.
3. Cut a narrow line in the middle of
one of the black circles.
4. Cut a wide line in the middle of one
of the black circles.
You need a:
1.Toilet paper roll 2.CD(scratched)
3.Black paper 4.Scissor Tape
5. Tape the CD circle to one of the side
of the toilet paper roll and 1 of the black circle on the other side.
Making a spectroscope to see light spectrum.
6. Activity 2: Diffraction
• We set up a ripple tank filled half way
with water with two bobbers to create
interfering waves in water.
• We used water as an example of a
light to see the waves.
The water moved from one side of the
ripple tank and created water waves,
they bend as they pass by obstacles or
through an opening. As the width of the
split between the bobbers gets smaller
in size , the wave appears more clearly
and sharply.
We observed that light travels in waves.
To observe diffraction simulations.
7. Activity 3: Observing interference
To observe interference pattern by
simulation.
To make interference transparent
Wave generator : we used a motor and a thread
to see the waves
• Making interference transparent : we had a
transparent paper with 2 circles, we places them
over each other and we saw the waves.
8. Activity 3: Observing interference
Results - When two waves of same magnitude interfere
the result is 0 .

Nodes
Anti nodes
•Soap bubble
9. Activity 4: Observing iridescence
To observe iridescence.
• We observed iridescence using :-
• Nail polish
• A peacock feather -seeing different shade of the
feather’s colour by using different kind of lights
• Different gift wraps
Black :Complete reflection
White :Complete transmission
We observed that colors appear to
change color due to difference in structural
size because of iridescence.
10. Design Project : Fabricating
phonetic crystals
• Producer-In this activity we used a slip and we put on two different
polystyrene drops and heated it.
Results– the polystyrene drops changed to pink and green crystals.
The difference in colors is due to the size of the nanoparticles.

12. Traffic jam light
Introduction and Rationale:
We chose this idea because the main problem Qatar is facing is traffic jams.
Traffic guider product is so important because it will help solving traffic
jams.
Traffic guider is special because it work with light sensors to sense if the
road is busy.
It is a new product which will help Qatar in their projects for 2022 and help
people of facing conjunction.
Aim of the work (objectives)
Our main purpose of doing Traffic guider is to
1. Reduce traffic conjunction
2. Reduce the rate of death by accidents
3. Organize the roads
4. Help people reach faster to their destination.
14. Materials and Methods
Laser light sensing units
Traffic light sets
We hereby work by an assumption method.
We assemble the light units and sensors at specific
points which are controlled from the traffic
department during peak hours.
These sensors notify the intensity of traffic thereby
initiating the traffic lights at each intersection.
16. Traffic jam light
Recommendations:
We recommend that our product can be Applied
in any road which is crowded or has people
gathering,e.gs-shops ,offices ,schools….
We advice more investigation for improvement of
the product.
We fortunately didn’t face obstacles in our
experiments and testing of our product .And we
advice people to read more about the topic to
overcome any obstacle
17. Conclusions
Our product is designed to reduce traffic
conjunction and to reduce the rate of death
by accidents and it will also help Qatar in
the future.
18. Acknowledgment
Many thanks to AL-Bairaq team from Center for Advanced
