3. Composites - materials made up of two or more substances – mixed
to create materials with improved characteristics
4. Objective
Mixing in the petri plate 3 different kinds of ice
Procedure
1- disrepute the mixtures in separate petri plates with the given
order :
- pure water (A)
- water + tissue (B)
- water + tissue with other materials (C)
2- Freeze the 3 mixtures for 24 hours
3- take the mixtures out of the petri plates
4- test the mixtures strength by dropping each mixture several
times until it breaks
5. Combined Materials Dropping Times
(A) ice only 1
(B) ice with tissue 2
(C) ice with tissue and other
material
+5 ,Didn’t break
Results …
- (A) has been broke at the first trial
- (B) broke at the third trial
- (C) did not break
The more substances we add to mixture ,the more strong it get.
The final result …
6. Objective
explore and spot the advantages of each object’s
composition
Procedure
We searched in our daily life objects and analyzed the
materials that are made of
Results…
Object name Composition Advantages
Plane body
- steel
- aluminum
- strong - low cost
- Light
Wooden chair
- wood
- Iron (base)
- light weight
- effortless to maintain
7. Objective
distinguish between materials
Procedure
1- choose 5 different types of materials
(plastic rod - iron rod - wood - pasta - nylon cord)
2- try to compress the materials to test the strength and flexibility
level on the materials by bend.
wood
Iron rod
pastaNylon cord
Plastic rod
8. Results…
Not all materials have the same flexibility and strength .
From our observation :Iron rod is the strongest among the five
materials however its also the less flexible
Most flexible to Least
flexible
Strong to weakMaterials

9. Objective
Testing the ability of strength and stiffness in the foam
with/without a base of paper
Procedure
we took 3 foams of the same type but with different
number of base
- plain foam
- foam + Paper (upper side only)
- foam + Paper (both sides)
10. Length (cm)

Results…
Adding layers as a base it make it harder to bend or deform while not
adding more layers will cause deforming in no time –just like paper and
foam-
11. The fishing pole must be deformed at 2cm, hold up to 200g ,strong ,flexible
and light-weight
Reinforcement materials:
- Gauze bandages
- Coffee stirrers
- Metal wire
Building materials:
-5minutes Epoxy
hardener-
-Rubber cement
12. Results…
we were able to combine between flexibility and
strength, so it was able to hold up to 150g-200g
13. we faced a lot of problems with communicating to foreigners ,opening
your mobile to translate what did they just said will take alot of time
we also don’t even know how to write it !!
so why bothering yourself while you can record the foreigner’s speech
and hear the translated version of it with simple voice commands
anywhere and anytime
You can also reply with your native language and STG will connect the
translated speech through the side speaker
Simple yet useful
14. Introduction and Rationale:
STG helps with communicating while traveling.
No need to study a new language .
STG increase the country economics .
In special points:
Can be charged by the solar power and USB.
Simple ,easy and eco-friendly.
Water and dust resistance
We are trying to achieve an easier communication between people
talking two different languages
15. -Translating Data-Base can be updated via app.
(through Wi-Fi)
-Download additional languages (through Wi-Fi)
-OPTIONAL recording files transferring from
glasses to the app. (through Bluetooth)
16. During conversation …
-To start recording say “STG translate the target”
-To stop say “STG stop”
(it will automatically stop after 2min of recording)
-you will here the translation through the earphone
Replying …
-to start your voice recording “STG translate mine”
-to stop say “STG stop”
-the translation will be heard through speaker
17. The STG might get some errors if…
-Not being up to date which means less accuracy
translation
-The further the target the more issues in recording
-Overlapping voices causes translation errors
18. Further applications…
-education
It can help learn new languages
-medication
Easier communication between the patients and
doctors
-merchandise
Through seller and buyer
19. The Duration to submit our poster and module
With the support of our teachers and albairq team they gave us , we were
able to discuss more about our project and enhance our creativity
The tools were available to create our module
Through the Workshops that albairq team gave us
20. -Creativity
-Team work
-how to look deeply into problems and to solve it
-Exchanging ideas between colleagues and groups
21. Many thanks to my teachers, school and AL-Bairaq team
from Center for Advanced Materials (CAM), Qatar
University for supporting us during our journey with a
AL-Bairaq.
Also, I would like to thank the sponsors UNESCO, Qatar
National Commission, Ras Gas and Shell.
