3. INTRODUTION
What Are Composites?
A composite material is a material made
from two or more constituent materials
with significantly different physical or
chemical properties that, when combined,
produce a material with characteristics
different from the individual components.
4. Activities in Composite Materials
Activity 1:Testing Different Kinds of Ice
We compared the strength
of pure ice with the
strength of a composite ice
made with tissue paper
and ice made with tissue
paper with other material.
Activity 2: Hunting for Composite Material
We searched about
composites materials that
make up common
everyday objects, also
their advantages.
5. Activities in Composite Materials
- Strength relates to the maximum
amount of force a material can
experience before failing.
- Stiffness relates to the amount
of deformation a material can
experience and still return to its
original shape.
- We explored the strength and
stiffness of different materials.
Activity 3: Exploring the Difference
between Strength and Stiffness
Applying what we learnt
about composite materials,
we designing many
prototypes of fishing poles
until we achieved the
optimum design of strong,
flexible and light weight
fishing pole.
We tested different
samples of foam beams
for strength and stiffness
by clamping them to the
table and handing
weights to the beams and
measure their deflection .

6. Our Product Idea:
(DIRT-FREE WALLPAPER USING RECYCLED MATERIALS)
⢠We have a very innovative product that will make
the homes of Qatar beautiful.
⢠Our product idea introduces a wallpaper that
repels dirt so that it is easy for home-makers to
clean walls.
⢠Most of the wall-papers in home get dirty due to
the common stains from house-hold .
⢠This product is very essential to the house-hold/
shops/ boutiques/studios as it will help the
laborers in cleaning the walls
7. DIRT-FREE WALLPAPER USING RECYCLED MATERIALS
Methods and Materials
⢠Normal wallpaper uses paper coated with
acrylic vinyl.
⢠We are fabricating polypropylene and rubber
to make wallpapers inorder to repel water
and dirt.
8. DIRT-FREE WALLPAPER USING RECYCLED MATERIALS
Hypothesis
We expect the cleaning of the wall-
papers to be more effective with a
drop of water or damp cloth.
9. Results
⢠Its strong and malleable which allows it to
stay on for longer periods .
⢠Its safe with children which means it has no
toxic chemicals which results in irritation for
the child .
⢠As it is mainly made from recycled materials,
it has low cost.
10. DIRT-FREE WALLPAPER USING RECYCLED MATERIALS
Recommendations
⢠We would like to recycle the coveralls which
are used one time to make water-proof and
fire-proof wall-papers that will help to
protect the walls of the building.
11. Conclusions
⢠Throughout our journey , we learnt about
different composites and their properties and
applications in everyday life and industrial
applications.
⢠Moreover, we learn to design a new product
idea that could change the lives of people and
make it better.
⢠We learn to work as a team, build confidence
and improve our communication skills.
12. Acknowledgment
