Composites Module: Students discover what composite materials are and test them to learn their advantages over pure materials. Finally, at the end of the workshop, they design new composite materials.
Ovens are one of the main household items that must exist in each and every house. Safety is one of the main features that one looks for not only in ovens, but also in all devices and equipment.
Our main purpose from this project is to protect the Qatari society from burns and injuries.
This product cares about making use of the physical and chemical properties of the materials such as: melting points, heat isolation, separation and the structure. We make use of them as a shield around the oven so that it would isolate the heat in the oven from spreading outside.
5. Procedure:
In sample a. we froze the water to make pure
ice.
In sample b. we added the toilet paper to the
ice.
In sample c. we added plastic , cartoons ,
cotton , glue and polyester .

7. A brittle material like ice , becomes
stronger when we add some materials to
close its cracks like adding fiber .

• Test the strength of the materials by
applying different forces on them.
• Test the stiffness of the
materials by bending them .

12. • The material that breaks easily . will be the
weakest . like: pasta
• The material that can bend easily without
breaking . will be the most flexible. like:
polyester rope
13. 1) Plain foam beam
2) One side paper foam
3) Two sides paper foam
14. • 1-fix the samples to the
table by using a beam
clamp.
• 2-use a dial spring scale
and a ruler to bend and
measure the distance.

16. Adding a thick and strong paper to the
weak foam will prevent its small
bubbles of air inside from breaking.
17. • 1-Choose the materials that
you need for your own
fishing pole. It needs to be
strong and flexible.
• 2-Fix your materials with
each others to make your
design.
• 3-you can test your design
as the same way of testing
the foam samples.
18. Introduction and Rationale:
We chose this product, because it will benefit the basis of the Qatari society which
are the housewives. This Idea attracts us, because it will protect them from injuries
and burns . Moreover this product is special, because its new of its kind. We think
that we will see everyone using it in the future.
This product cares about the physical and chemical properties of the materials
such as: melting points and heat isolation.
We also can’t forgot the efforts of AL-Bairaq team with us to understand the
composites more and more.
Aim of the work (objectives):
Our main purpose from this project is to protect the Qatari society
from burns and injuries , because there numbers have been
increased nowadays .

20. our product story:
We had a Previous experience in
conducting researches, but AL-Bairaq is a
new project of its kind for us. We have
inspired the idea of this product by AL-
Bairaq workshops. In addition we have
faced some difficulties to implement our
product such as: finding the suitable
materials, proving the hypothesis .
21. Our product will benefit the Qatari society by
reducing the numbers of burns and injuries , we
only can expect that our product will solve the
problem that we invented it for and this because
we couldn’t provide the materials that we need to
prove that.
22. The first layer: silicon rubber(HTV)
properties:
-It can resist high temperatures up to
350 ~ 400 ℃.
We will prove that by the properties of the materials that we will use
in our product:
The third layer: Fiberglass Reinforced
Polyester(FRP) properties:
- Its super soft so its easy to clean it.
-it has a long life (more than 50 years).
- Low weight.
- it is a thermal insulator.
The second layer: the air : its used
for isolation and separation.
So all of these properties shows that the materials that we chose to make
our product can isolate heat without affecting from the high temperature
of the oven sides

24. -You use our product to protect every thermal devices
such as: straightener, car, microwave.. etc.
-Our product needs to investigate and to test its
materials more and more to prove if it will achieve the
hypothesis.
25. Our participation in AL-Bairaq project has
many benefits , as we learned many things
especially about the composites . In addition
we learned how to make a different
researches and to think scientifically
