Dear Members,
What a weekend!
International Women’s Day was a great success, with over 120 women and men coming
down to the club to hear more about activities in Brightlingsea. The club proved the perfect
venue to host the event and was buzzing all afternoon. Watch out for a follow up in 2019.
Mothering Sunday – A big thank you to Jacqui and Tim for cooking a wonderful carvery. We
were delighted so many people took the opportunity to come along. The ladies certainly all
enjoyed a glass of Prosecco on the house.
Sonata Maintenance
Calling all volunteers – Peter needs some help sanding down the hulls of the 3 Sonatas
to get them back into the water by the end of March. Please bring your own sander, if
you have one. Please call Peter on 07591264000 to get in touch and set a day.
Race Coach Course
We are holding a Race Coach Course with places available. Please call Tom Long on
07762590956 for more information.
THIS WEEK…
We are running our second First Aid Course of 2018 on Saturday from 9:00pm, showing
rugby throughout the day and hosting a Private Party on Saturday evening. On Sunday
morning, we are hosting the Cinque Port Liberty for their photos, with a roast served from
12:00noon. We hope you will be able to pop down the Club at some point for a drink, or
maybe even a bite to eat to keep those energy levels up for those of you that are fitting out
over the weekend.

Harbour Users Stakeholders Meeting- Wednesday 14th
March
There will be a Leisure Harbour Users Stakeholders meeting at Brightlingsea Sailing
Club from 6:00pm -9:00pm. Hosted by Brightlingsea Harbour Commissioners.
NEXT WEEKEND…
Cadet AGM – 12 noon Saturday 24th
March 2018.
Please can all Cadet Parents/ Grandparents /Guardians let the Cadets know this event
is on. Time find out who the new Cadet Commodore and Flag Officers will be.
Please be aware that bookings for Cadet Activity Week are now being taken. 23rd
- 27th
July 2018. Prices remain at 2017 levels. To book, please download a form from the
website and send it in, with payment, to the Office.
Flag Officer Reception - Sunday 25th
March
The Flag Officers of the Colne Yacht Club will be hosting a reception for Commodores of
local clubs, together with key dignitaries from the town, in order to promote the club as a
destination for events and cruises.
Colne Yacht Club AGM
Saturday 24th March
4:00pm
The AGM will now be held in the Club at 4pm on the 24th
March. We hope members will be
able to make this new date.
The meeting will then be followed by the Fitting Out Supper and Live Band
‘Heaven on Earth’.
Traditional Curry and Rice followed by Surprise Dessert. Vegetarian Friendly too.
