This is Richard Stallman:
-RMS, is an American free software movement
activist and programmer.
-Because of a new printer in the office he
wasn’t allowed to hack because of licensing
issues.
-Stallman launched the GNU Project, founded the
Free Software Foundation, developed the GNU
Compiler Collection and GNU Emacs, and wrote the GNU General Public License.

3. Linus Torvalds
-Was developing linux from a hobby project.
-Used GNU software like C compiler to make
linux
-While Kernel on it’s own was useless.
-He ended up keeping GNU software with the
kernel to release an operating system.

11. -A Linux distribution (often abbreviated as distro) is an operating system made from a software collection, which is based
upon the Linux kernel and, often, a package management system
-The software packages are available online in so-called repositories, which are storage locations usually distributed around
the world.
-Linux isn’t like Windows or Mac OS X. Microsoft, and Apple have a paid for OS, and are programmed/updated by software
developers hired to the job, the reason why they’re so many versions of Linux is because it’s Open Source Software/Free
Software, which allows for anyone to mess around with the coding and release their own versions of Linux.
-If you wanted to, you could grab the source code for the Linux kernel, GNU shell utilities, Xorg X server, and every other
program on a Linux system, assembling it all yourself.
-The con would be compiling the software would take a lot of time – not to mention the work involved with making all the
different programs work properly together.
-Linux distributions do the hard work for you, taking all the code from the open-source projects and compiling it for you,
combining it into a single operating system you can boot up and install.
-Even installing software/updating software, Linux distribution provides them in precompiled, packaged form. These
packages are fast and easy to install, saving you from doing the hard work yourself
