Michael is being admitted to Wingate Christian School with the
help of coach Burt Cotton as he seems impress with Michael’s
size and athleticism. That is where Michael starts to be friend
with SJ Tuohy.

help, he starts to play well for his football team until
many universities want Michael to play on their teams.
FALLING ACTION
After thinking and questioning Leigh Anne on the

choose Ole Miss is because the Tuohys is his family
and it is his own decision to go to Ole Miss.
RESOLUTION
Tuohys family sends Michael to his new
university. S.J is seen leading the football
players onto the game-field with Michael
before all local games.
VALUES
Generous
- Leigh Anne is being generous
when she offers Michael to stay
at her home when she knows
Michael has no place to stay for
the night.
Responsible

when she tries her best to help
improve Michael’s academic
performance as she’s been
given the responsibility to be

when she helps Michael without
even expecting Michael to pay
her back.
Hardworking
- Michael is being
hardworking when he tries
his best to catch up his study
along with his football games
even though at first, he is
really close to give up.
*Based on a book by
journalist Michael
Lewis chronicling the
real Oher’s experiences,
this film manages to
inspire despite its
broad-strokes approach
to characterization.
- S. Jhoanna Robledo
(Common Sense
Media) *
Bullock delivers a
towering performance
that grabs the movie
and the Oscar race by
the scruff of the neck.
You will be moved, but
at the price of any
nuance or complexity.
- Ian Freer
(Empire)
*
Truly, a power-packed
performance that
makes you sit up and
cheer for this erstwhile
cheerleader.

AWARD &
NOMINATION

CRITIQUE
1. Strength: Focus on more aspects of
life. Although the movie is about sport, it
doesn’t really focus only in sport but also
focus on the background story of Michael
Oher.
Weakness: A lot of background
information about Michael Oher’s
success are left out due to the short
duration of the movie.
2. Michael Oher’s character was too aloof
as he barely said a word throughout the
movie. The real personality of Michael
Oher in real life is quite the opposite
from the drama. Quinton Aaron should
have portrayed Michael Oher’s character
more like the real life.
OVERALL IMPACT
+ POSITIVE IMPACT
The movie inspires people to achieve
their dream despite of any difficulties
faced along the journey. Nothing is
impossible with never-ending hard work
and support from the people around us.
- NEGATIVE IMPACT
The movie might be interpreted wrongly
as it involves two different races. It is
criticize as presenting a white savior for a
black African-American male, Michael
Oher who’s unable to overcome poverty
and personal failure without the
guidance from a white mother, Tuohy.
