Q6 V2
1. 6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
2. The use of Blogger & SlideShare
Blogger was used to upload our content for the music magazine
onto a online blog. This included:
• Preliminary task
• Planning and research
• Production
• Evaluation
The use of blog is great as no work has to be printed and
everything is digitally marked and sent off to examiners. Also as
media students it makes us more technologically adept, so if in
future cases if a blogger needs to be created, we are able to use a
free source of making a blog.
SlideShare was used to convert my PowerPoint presentations so
that they are viewable online, they are then embedded on my
blogger posts.
3. The use of Photoshop
The use of Photoshop was throughout the production process of
where the front cover, contents page as well as the double page
spread were created. Photoshop has a wide range of tool needed
to create a magazine, this varies from:
• The different lasso tools that cut images out from the
backgrounds which was needed to be done for the images of
the artist (specifically the magnetic lasso tool).
• Magic wand was used to further take out the backgrounds in
large sections.
• The gradient tool was used to create the different gradient
back grounds which are apparent in the magazine sections.
• The blur tool used to blur the edges of the artists so that
certain sharp edges seem more rounded and easier on the
eye.
• The smudge tool was used to create the extended light saber
effect within the double page spread.
• Additional text fonts had to be installed for the text from
websites such as ‘Da Font’.
• Additional brushes needed to be installed to create a
exploding effect on the double page spread.
• The most difficult Photoshop project was the creation of the
masthead, which I had used a Photoshop tutorial on YouTube
to follow.
4. The use of YouTube
• Their was only two uses of YouTube for me was
that in one case I needed it to search for a
tutorial for how I wanted my masthead to look
like, which was a Tron inspired 3D text.
• In the other case it was needed to upload the
videos I needed to put on blogger for my
evaluation
• It is a very simple and easy to use technology
and can be used by millions of people to view
and upload video for the world to see.
5. The use of Sound Cloud, Audacity &
Windows Live Movie Maker
• The use of Sound cloud was to record one of the
evaluation questions. At first my audacity was not
working therefore an alternative had to be found.
Sound Cloud was an easy to use website where
once your voice had been recorded you can
upload the sound clip to you Sound Cloud account
and post to anywhere you like, in my case I found
the embedded and code and added it to my blog.
• The use of Audacity was to record my voice again
however overlapped on a video. Audacity was
tricky to use as it was hard to export an MP3
file, however once I learnt how to do it I could
record my voice in a crisp and clear and quality
and export it to an MP3 file ready to be put on my
video
• Windows Live Movie Maker was used to add
image and voice together and was specifically
used in the evaluation question where my
audience profile was on the screen and I was
talking about it. It’s a basic, free product to use
and easy to use.
6. The use of Survey Monkey
• The use of Survey Monkey was to create a survey
for my initial research task so that I was able to
understand my audiences wants and needs so
that within my magazine I am able to fulfil them.
Survey Monkey is a free service to create a
professional looking questionnaire.
• However to get my survey to my target audience
I had to use social networking services to send
my survey(Facebook & Whatsapp)
