ï What electricity means to us ?
ï We need electricity for every small things.
ï Large amount of power is wasted at speed breakers.
ï Use of fossil fuels for power generation is harmful, causes depletion of
resources.
ï With increasing population we need a solution using renewable sources.

ï Solution is to use a power extracting mechanism in the speed breakers.
ï Okay but How ?
ï As we know that âEnergy can be transformed into one another formâ.
ï By converting the kinetic energy of vehicle to a mechanical form and
then into a electrical energy form.
ï Latest renewable source technology used is called âPOWER
HUMPâ.
ï Use the vehicle weight as input to move the pinion which moves the
generator shaft and power can be produced.

ï Roller is fixed in the middle of the speed
breaker.
ï As the vehicle passes, the cylindrical portion
rotates in the direction of motion of vehicle.
ï The roller is linked with a shaft of DC
generator through chain system.
ï The roller rotates the generator shaft and the
electricity is produces, which can be stored in a
battery as for further use.

ï The assembly pushes down the
spring, which lowers the piston
connected with the dome.
ï This quick action compresses
the air inside the
compressor, which escapes out
from the delivery pipe.

is much more efficient.
ï We can use the power to light the road lamps, and the
present power used for this purpose can be utilized for
other purpose also.
ï We can also use this technique in various stages.
ï Using piezo electric sensors in the stairs we can also use
the human weight to produce power.
ï This arrangement can be used in our university also, and
we can utilize the power to light the lamps during night.
