5.2 Memahami makna dan langkah retorika dalam esei pendek sederhana secara akurat, lancar dan
berterima untuk berinteraksi dalam konteks kehidupan sehari-hari dalam teks berbentuk procedure
dan report.
C. Tujuan Pembelajaran
Di akhir kegiatan pembelajaran siswa diharapkan dapat:
Memahami makna yang terdapat dalam teks monolog sederhana berbentuk report secara cermat,
cepat dan tepat.
D. Indikator
1. Siswa dapat menemukan topic dari teks report.
2. Siswa dapat menemukan gagasan utama di tiap paragraf
3. Siswa dapat menemukan informasi rinci.

1. Teks Report : Encyclopedia (terlampir)
a. Definition of Report
Report is a text which presents information about something, as it is. It is as a result of
systematic observation and analysis
b. Generic Structure of Report
1. General classification: Stating classification of general aspect of thing; animal,
public place, plant, etc which will be discussed in general
2. Description: Describing the thing which will be discussed in detail; part per part ,
customs or deed for living creature and usage for materials
c. Language Feature of Report
• Introducing group or general aspect
• Using conditional logical connection; when, so, etc
• Using simple present tense

 Guru memberikan gambar tentang Sea Turtle?
 Guru menggali background knowledge siswa berkaitan dengan penyu (Sea Turtle).

- Could you mention its characteristics?
MOT :
 Guru menampilkan sebuah teks report tentang “Sea Turtle”. (Lampiran 1)
 Guru menyediakan “mind mapping chart” no 1 yang belum lengkap tentang “Sea Turtle”.
 Siswa membaca comprehension bersama dan melengkapi “chart” tersebut.
JCOT :
 Guru Memberikan teks baru. (Lampiran 2)
 Guru menyuruh siswa untuk membaca teks tersebut .
 Guru menyuruh siswa untuk melengkapi mind mapping chart no 2 secara berkelompok
sesuai dengan pemahaman mereka tentang teks tersebut.
 Siswa mempresentasikan hasil pekerjaan mereka di dinding and mendiskusikan bersama.
ICOT :
 Guru memberikan teks report yang baru. ( Lampiran 3 )
 Siswa membaca dan melengkapi mind mapping chart .
3. Kegiatan Penutup (5 menit)
a. Menanyakan kesulitan-kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa selama proses pembelajaran
b. Memberikan umpan balik kepada siswa tentang proses pembelajaran berupa alternatif
pemecahan masalah atau kendala yang dihadapi siswa.
c. Guru menyuruh siswa untuk mencari teks ensiklopedia dalam bahasa inggris.
d. Menyuruh siswa untuk berdoa bersama.

Sea Turtle
Sea turtles are reptiles. There are at least 7 kinds of sea turtles. They swim by beating their
flippers. They can withdraw into their shells.
Most sea turtles live in warm seas around the world. The Leather Back is one of the biggest
sea turtles. Sea turtles are about 8 feet and can weigh up to 415 lb. They eat animals and plants.
Females are the only ones that leave the water to lay their eggs.
The female buries it eggs and leaves because it is helpless on land.

The Blue Whale
The Blue Whale is largest whale and the largest living creature on
Earth. Blue whales were hunted a lot of for oil, baleen, meat, and other
products from the 1930s to the 1960s. This hunting almost caused the
extinction of the species. They are now protected and may gradually be
returning in several areas.
Blue Whales are mainly found in very cold waters. They migrate to
the tropicst in the winter and to the Arctic and Antarctic in summer.
Blue Whales can reach over 24 m (80ft) long; mature females are
usually a bit longer than mature males. They weigh between 87,500-
142,500 kg. The skin has a light grey white spotty pattern.
Blue Whales feed by opening its mouth into dense groups of small
creatures like plankton, krill or fish.
Blue Whales are mammals. They give birth once every two or three
years. Mating occurs during the summer season, and they give birth after
about 11 months. The calf nurse f or seven or eight months and gain
weight about 90 kg (200lb) per day.

Komodo Dragon
Komodo Dragon is the biggest lizard. It is a reptile, a cold-blooded animal. It is diurnal, most
active during the day. The Komodo is a fast runner; it can run up to 11 mph (18 kph). It is also a good
tree climber and swimmer.
The Komodo Dragon’s scientific name is Varanus Komodoensis. It is in danger of extinction
because of habitat lost. Its life span is about 20 years
Komodo Dragon’s live on islands in Indonesia, including the island of Komodo. They live in
humid, grassy low lands and in rainforests.
The Komodo Dragon is about 9 feet (2.8 m) long, but can get up to 10 ten feet (3 m) long, and
weighs up to 300 pounds (135kg). It has jaws, four shorts legs, and five toed feet with sharp claws. The
tail is longer than the body. It senses chemicals with a long yellow, forked tongue.
The Komodo dragon is a carnivore ( meat eater). It eats almost anything that it can catch, including
goats, deer, wild boars, other lizards and carrion. It has disease ridden bacteria in its mouth. After it bites
its prey, the victim will get sick and die from blood poisoning in one or two days. The Komodo dragon
will then find the body and eat it.
The female digs a hole in the ground, lays 20-40 eggs, and then covers them up with soil. The eggs
hatch in about 7 months. Hatchlings eat mostly insects and live in trees

dan report untuk berinteraksi dalam konteks kehidupan sehari-hari.

6.2. Mengungkapkan makna dan langkah retorika dalam esei pendek sederhana dengan menggunakan
ragam bahasa tulis secara akurat, lancar dan berterima untuk berinteraksi dalam konteks kehidupan
sehari-hari dalam teks berbentuk procedure dan report.

1. Menggunakan ciri-ciri kebahasaan dengan tepat
2. Menulis teks procedure sesuai dengan informasi yang tersedia secara runtut.
3. Menulis esei pendek berbentuk teks procedure
D. Tujuan Pembelajaran
Setelah mengikuti pembelajaran keterampilan menulis diharapkan siswa dapat :
1. Membuat esei pendek berbentuk procedure dengan langkah-langkah retorika dan ciri-ciri
kebahasaan yang benar.
E. Materi Pembelajaran
1. Text procedure : Recipes
Fruits salad
Materials :
 An apple
 Some berries
 Some strawberries
 A kiwi
 Some grapes
Tools :
 A large bowl
 A small bowl
 A spoon
 A knife
First, choose your fruits. Some tasty options are berries, strawberries, kiwis, grapes, and apples.
Second, wash all your fruits.
After that, place all grapes and berries except strawberries in a large mixing bowl.
Then, chop all larger fruits like apples, strawberries, and kiwis into bite-size pieces.
Next, put and arrange them into an individual bowl.
Finally, serve at room temperature or slightly chilled. Enjoy!

Teks Report : Encyclopedia (terlampir) a. Definition of Report Report is a text which presents information about something, as it is. It is as a result of systematic observation and analysis b. Generic Structure of Report 1. General classification: Stating classification of general aspect of thing; animal, public place, plant, etc which will be discussed in general 2. Description: Describing the thing which will be discussed in detail; part per part , customs or deed for living creature and usage for materials c. Language Feature of Report • Introducing group or general aspect • Using conditional logical connection; when, so, etc • Using simple present tense

Kegiatan utama (70 menit) BKOF :  Guru memberikan gambar tentang Sea Turtle?  Guru menggali background knowledge siswa berkaitan dengan penyu (Sea Turtle). - What picture is it? - Where does it live? - What does it eat? - Could you mention its characteristics? MOT :  Guru menampilkan sebuah teks report tentang “Sea Turtle”. (Lampiran 1)  Guru menyediakan “mind mapping chart” no 1 yang belum lengkap tentang “Sea Turtle”.  Siswa membaca comprehension bersama dan melengkapi “chart” tersebut. JCOT :  Guru Memberikan teks baru. (Lampiran 2)  Guru menyuruh siswa untuk membaca teks tersebut .  Guru menyuruh siswa untuk melengkapi mind mapping chart no 2 secara berkelompok sesuai dengan pemahaman mereka tentang teks tersebut.  Siswa mempresentasikan hasil pekerjaan mereka di dinding and mendiskusikan bersama. ICOT :  Guru memberikan teks report yang baru. ( Lampiran 3 )  Siswa membaca dan melengkapi mind mapping chart . 3. Kegiatan Penutup (5 menit) a. Menanyakan kesulitan-kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa selama proses pembelajaran b. Memberikan umpan balik kepada siswa tentang proses pembelajaran berupa alternatif pemecahan masalah atau kendala yang dihadapi siswa. c. They swim by beating their flippers. They can withdraw into their shells. Most sea turtles live in warm seas around the world. The Leather Back is one of the biggest sea turtles. Sea turtles are about 8 feet and can weigh up to 415 lb. They eat animals and plants. Females are the only ones that leave the water to lay their eggs. Blue whales were hunted a lot of for oil, baleen, meat, and other products from the 1930s to the 1960s. This hunting almost caused the extinction of the species. They are now protected and may gradually be returning in several areas. Blue Whales are mainly found in very cold waters. They migrate to the tropicst in the winter and to the Arctic and Antarctic in summer. Blue Whales can reach over 24 m (80ft) long; mature females are usually a bit longer than mature males. They weigh between 87,500- 142,500 kg. The skin has a light grey white spotty pattern. Blue Whales feed by opening its mouth into dense groups of small creatures like plankton, krill or fish. Blue Whales are mammals. They give birth once every two or three years. Mating occurs during the summer season, and they give birth after about 11 months. The calf nurse f or seven or eight months and gain weight about 90 kg (200lb) per day.
  • 6. Lampiran 3 Work Sheet ICOT Activity Komodo Dragon Komodo Dragon is the biggest lizard. It is a reptile, a cold-blooded animal. It is diurnal, most active during the day. The Komodo is a fast runner; it can run up to 11 mph (18 kph). It is also a good tree climber and swimmer. The Komodo Dragon’s scientific name is Varanus Komodoensis. It is in danger of extinction because of habitat lost. Its life span is about 20 years Komodo Dragon’s live on islands in Indonesia, including the island of Komodo. They live in humid, grassy low lands and in rainforests. The Komodo Dragon is about 9 feet (2.8 m) long, but can get up to 10 ten feet (3 m) long, and weighs up to 300 pounds (135kg). It has jaws, four shorts legs, and five toed feet with sharp claws. The tail is longer than the body. It senses chemicals with a long yellow, forked tongue. The Komodo dragon is a carnivore ( meat eater). It eats almost anything that it can catch, including goats, deer, wild boars, other lizards and carrion. It has disease ridden bacteria in its mouth. After it bites its prey, the victim will get sick and die from blood poisoning in one or two days. The Komodo dragon will then find the body and eat it. The female digs a hole in the ground, lays 20-40 eggs, and then covers them up with soil. The eggs hatch in about 7 months. After that, place all grapes and berries except strawberries in a large mixing bowl. Then, chop all larger fruits like apples, strawberries, and kiwis into bite-size pieces.
