3. TITLE AND TAGLINE FOR OUR FILM
Title: The Follower
The reason why we chose this title is because, we felt that it is quite obscure
and draws the audience in. The name also hints what the story is about,
however it keeps the audience wondering.
Tagline: Do the clues lead to an end...

4. STORYLINE
Our opening sequence does not start off chronologically. It has a non-linear
narrative beginning in the “middle of things”.
• The teenage girl thinks that the „fantasy stalker‟ is someone who she thinks is
trying to hurt her and is evil, but in actual truth he is her father and is trying to
protect her from her mother who tried to sacrifice her with others who were part
of a satanic cult at a younger age. The mother failed to do this, as the teenage
girls father – „fantasy stalker‟ put himself forward and decided to sacrifice his
own life instead of his daughters.
• The mother wanted to do this because, every ten years a family has to
sacrifice a loved one and that year it was her turn. The teenage girl had to be
the one sacrificed because, she is the only child.

5. WHO
For the opening of our film, we have decided to have three main characters.
These characters will be the following:
• Fantasy stalker – The teenage girl thinks that the fantasy stalker is evil, but he
is actually her father and is trying to protect her from her mother who is planning
on sacrificing her.
• Teenage girl – The teenage girl has had something appearing in her life since a
young age, however she is not aware of the reason behind it. Just recently the
„stalker‟ has been talking to her and giving her clues on something that must
have happened to when she was younger.

6. OPENING SEQUENCE
Our opening sequence starts off non-linear. This means that it does not start off
chronologically. Our opening starts off from the middle of the film.
The main character who is the teenage girl is going to start off by sitting on a
bench in a park. The girl is unaware that her mother sent her there to perform a
ritual where she is to be sacrificed.
Before her mother arrives her fantasy stalker appears telling her that she needs
to leave urgently, as he is aware of what is to happen. She protests and says
that she needs to stay because, she is meeting her mother.
Her fantasy stalker then takes drastic measures and stabs her, so the ritual does
not take place, as she would be wounded. This wound would stop the ritual
taking place, as she is supposed to be in a „clean‟ state. The knife was in the
girls bag.
Soon after she gets stabbed, the screen fades out and she narrates saying how
this is not the beginning of the story.

7. WHEN AND WHERE
The opening sequence is going to take place in a park. The scene will
start off late afternoon around 6:00pm when it is dark.

8. MISE-EN-SCENE

• Costume: Casual clothes
• Low lighting
• Makeup: The teenage girl is going to look pale because of all the pressure
that is on her from the new, fantasy stalker‟ appearing in her life. (her diet
has changed and she has not been sleeping much)
• Camera work: Close up of the teenage girls face, mid shot to show body
language of both characters. Establishing shot/ long shot to show the
setting.
• Editing: The scene is going to start off slow paced. When the stalker
appears and they start talking the editing speeds up with a lot of shots.
