Piccadilly Circus is a famous square and crossroad in central London known for its neon signs and advertisements. In the 1960s, there were plans to redevelop the area to improve traffic flow, but most redevelopment plans were abandoned. Today, Piccadilly Circus is partly pedestrianized and remains a popular gathering place, especially at night when the neon lights illuminate the area, before visiting nearby shopping, entertainment and landmark areas like Soho, Chinatown, Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square.
