Lean:
It is the process of reducing the waste in the manufacturing process of a
company or any businesses and increasing the quality of the product and
services to increase customer demands. It is also used in businesses to
provide value to the customers with zero wastage. (Lean Enterprise
Institute n.d.)
Manufacturing Process of a Abort Nutritional Supplement
Abort is a healthcare product otherwise termed as nutritional supplements that
is manufactured under highest quality and safety standards throughout the
design, labeling and the delivery of the products. The products manufacturing
process is characterized by common quality management system with an aid
of specific environment, equipment and procedures that are designed to
achieve the best level of process control and are distinguished by a lean
process. (Nutritional Outlook n.d.) Below is a sequential manufacturing
process of abort nutritional supplements. (Abbott Nutrition n.d.)
1. Purchase of raw materials.
2. Storage.
3. Batch calculation.
4. Ingredient weighing.
5. Homogenization.
6. Oil blending.
7. Storage, treatment, drying.
8. Packaging and distribution.

2. Purchase of raw materials entails the list of suppliers by the company
whereby request for bids are processed in a more transparent way and the
required products are shipped in to help the production process. Thus, when
raw materials have been purchased, they are inspected and ensured to have
the quality, weighed and stored ready for the manufacturing process. Later,
batch calculation is carried out to come up with the right mixing of ingredients
that are achieved right to make a perfect blend. The ingredients are then
weighed to come up with the right recipe while at the same time making sure
that everything is put to scale for easy packaging. After blending,
homogenization is that constitutes the actual processing is now implemented
where raw materials are fully getting converted into actual Abort Supplement.
The final products are then blended using different oils depending on varied
customers tastes and preferences. The final stages of abort nutrition
manufacturing cycle involve storage, treatment and distribution to the market

concerns that 5 S organization may not be applicable to all suppliers
especially those engaged in service delivery hence it calls for more
appropriate tool would cater for all the inventory needs. Ultimately, visual
factory is also extensively used since it is applicable in all areas of Abort
nutritional manufacturing process that may not give valid results in all areas
