Brighton,
a city that excites
C RE ATI VE AND VIBR AN T
The University of Sussex is just nine minutes
by train from Brighton, one of the UK’s
most vibrant cities. The city is famous for
its beautiful seafront, unique shops and
markets, and thriving music and art scenes.
Each year, millions of inquisitive tourists and
open-minded individuals visit this inspirational
city to experience its friendly and creative
atmosphere.
SE ASI DE E SCAP E
Brighton’s pebble beach is perfect for meeting
up with friends for fish and chips, or simply
enjoying fresh air and sunshine. You can also
go for a walk along the promenade or have
a go at water sports, such as stand-up paddle
boarding. The pier, dating back to 1823,
is full of charm with its colourful fairground
rides, games arcades and food stalls.
ROYAL TRE AS UR ES
The Royal Pavilion is a top visitor attraction,
and an instantly recognisable symbol of
Brighton. The original building was transformed
in the 1820s by George IV, to become the
exotic Indian palace we see today. You can
go on a tour of the Pavilion to discover its
flamboyant interiors, with gilded dragons,
carved palmed trees and imitation bamboo
staircases.
LIVELY LANES
The Lanes are home to countless
independent cafés, restaurants and shops,
selling everything from unique jewellery
and modern art to musical instruments
and quirky antiques. You will be spoilt
for choice when it comes to eating out –
try traditional afternoon tea at the Blackbird
Tea Rooms, delicious Italian ice-cream at
Boho Gelato or bangers and mash in a
traditional British pub.
FAMOUS FESTIVALS
Creativity is celebrated in Brighton throughout
the year with colourful art, comedy, music,
film and food festivals. Each May the city
comes alive with music, theatre, dance,
circus, art, film and literature performances
as part of the Brighton Festival – the biggest
arts festival in England.
B EAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE
Brighton is surrounded by the South Downs
National Park. This means that you’ll have
the opportunity to enjoy stunning views
and go for peaceful walks. If you’re feeling
adventurous, you can also try hiking,
mountain biking or even paragliding.

Disclaimer
This brochure is issued for the general guidance of students
considering entry to the University of Sussex International Study
Centre from September 2016. The information is correct at the
time of going to press and the programmes and services described
herein are those which Study Group is planning to offer. We make
every effort to ensure that the content of our prospectus, website
and other materials is accurate. However, on occasion it may
be necessary to alter certain aspects of a module or programme,
for example if changes are required to meet external requirements;
or if programmes are over-subscribed and the quality of teaching
would be adversely affected as a result.
In such circumstances we may have to alter the timetable,
change the teaching location of the programme or, in extreme
cases, cancel or substantially amend the content of the
programme. Should any of these changes become necessary,
we will give you as much notice as possible before they come into
effect and ensure that any disruption to your studies is minimised.
If your programme is cancelled, we will work in consultation
with you to offer a suitable alternative, subject to meeting the
admission requirements for that programme or the opportunity
to obtain a refund of any advance payments you have made for
the programme. The alternative programme may not be at the
same ISC as the original offer.
The University (where applicable) also reserves the right to amend
the regulations governing these programmes without prior notice.
Study Group therefore strongly recommends that immediately
prior to making any application to/or accepting any offer from
Study Group, you should refer to the most up-to-date version of
the programme descriptions and specifications and the regulations
on the University of Sussex International Study Centre website.
Neither the University nor Study Group shall be liable for any
errors or omissions that may be contained in this prospectus.

  • 10. Brighton, a city that excites C RE ATI VE AND VIBR AN T The University of Sussex is just nine minutes by train from Brighton, one of the UK’s most vibrant cities. The city is famous for its beautiful seafront, unique shops and markets, and thriving music and art scenes. Each year, millions of inquisitive tourists and open-minded individuals visit this inspirational city to experience its friendly and creative atmosphere. SE ASI DE E SCAP E Brighton’s pebble beach is perfect for meeting up with friends for fish and chips, or simply enjoying fresh air and sunshine. You can also go for a walk along the promenade or have a go at water sports, such as stand-up paddle boarding. The pier, dating back to 1823, is full of charm with its colourful fairground rides, games arcades and food stalls. ROYAL TRE AS UR ES The Royal Pavilion is a top visitor attraction, and an instantly recognisable symbol of Brighton. The original building was transformed in the 1820s by George IV, to become the exotic Indian palace we see today. You can go on a tour of the Pavilion to discover its flamboyant interiors, with gilded dragons, carved palmed trees and imitation bamboo staircases. LIVELY LANES The Lanes are home to countless independent cafés, restaurants and shops, selling everything from unique jewellery and modern art to musical instruments and quirky antiques. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out – try traditional afternoon tea at the Blackbird Tea Rooms, delicious Italian ice-cream at Boho Gelato or bangers and mash in a traditional British pub. FAMOUS FESTIVALS Creativity is celebrated in Brighton throughout the year with colourful art, comedy, music, film and food festivals. Each May the city comes alive with music, theatre, dance, circus, art, film and literature performances as part of the Brighton Festival – the biggest arts festival in England. B EAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE Brighton is surrounded by the South Downs National Park. This means that you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy stunning views and go for peaceful walks. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also try hiking, mountain biking or even paragliding. S UCCEED I N THE W ORLD 8

The information is correct at the time of going to press and the programmes and services described herein are those which Study Group is planning to offer. We make every effort to ensure that the content of our prospectus, website and other materials is accurate. However, on occasion it may be necessary to alter certain aspects of a module or programme, for example if changes are required to meet external requirements; or if programmes are over-subscribed and the quality of teaching would be adversely affected as a result. In such circumstances we may have to alter the timetable, change the teaching location of the programme or, in extreme cases, cancel or substantially amend the content of the programme.
