Manchester United will try to avoid looking ahead when they visit Selhurst
Park to face Crystal Palace in an English Premier League match on
Wednesday. The Red Devils (12-2-4) suddenly have a realistic chance of
making a run at the league title, but they need to win matches like this one.
United are fourth in the Premier League table, just one point behind
second-place Manchester City after they beat their rivals 2-1 on Saturday.
They are nine points behind league leader Arsenal but face the Gunners at
Emirates Stadium on Sunday. First, they need to get past Crystal Palace
(6-4-8), who are 12th in the Premier League table. The Eagles have lost four of
3. their past five league matches but won the most recent meeting between these
teams.
Kickoff in London is set for 3 p.m. ET. Man United are -145 favorites (risk
$145 to win $100) in the latest Crystal Palace vs. Manchester United odds
from Caesars Sportsbook. Palace are +400 underdogs, a draw is priced at
+275 and the over/under for total match goals is 2.5. Before you consider any

Why you should back Manchester United
United have lost 10 of 61 meetings with Crystal Palace (39-12-10), and their
confidence is at its peak. The comeback against City, sparked by a goal by
Bruno Fernandes and the winner from Marcus Rashford, was a huge step.
United held the ball for just 29% of Saturday's match, but City managed only
9. one shot on target. Rashford has 16 goals in 26 total matches this season,
while Fernandes can score them or set them up. He has three league goals and
three assists and is third in the league in shot-creating actions (82) and
goal-creating actions (12).
Christian Eriksen (six assists) is a playmaker, and fellow midfielder Casemiro
is seventh in the EPL with 46 tackles and is a constant thorn in the side of
opponents. United have scored 12 more goals than Crystal Palace (29-17) and
conceded five fewer (21-26).
Why you should back Crystal Palace
The Eagles are in a rut, but they have the attacking talent to do damage, and
they have given Man United trouble recently. Their past eight matchups are
10. even at 3-2-3, and Palace won the most recent meeting 1-0 at Selhurst Park.
Wilfried Zaha scored in that match, and he has six goals and two assists after
scoring double-digit goals three of the past four seasons.
Palace put half of their 10 shots on target Sunday, forcing Chelsea's Kepa
Arrizabalaga to make several tough saves. They also played their typically
rough style, being called for 17 fouls and receiving five yellow cards. They
have the second-most fouls (220) in the Premier League but also have drawn
more fouls (237) than any other team. They will count on the energy of the
Selhurst Park crowd and try to frustrate the Red Devils. Of the 21 goals
United have conceded this season, 16 have come on the road.
How to make Crystal Palace vs. Manchester United picks

leaning over the goal total and also provides his three confident best bets,
including one that would pay almost 2-1. You can head to SportsLine now to

Why are Messi and CR7 meeting?
15. Messi plays for PSG who are going to Saudi Arabia as part of their latest
winter tour. Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr recently who are one of the
two Saudi sides which will contribute towards the all-star team. This will not
be considered the Portuguese star's debut for his new club as he is not strictly
playing for Al Nassr. The all-star team will be coached by guest boss Marcelo
Gallardo and not Al Nassr head coach Rudi Garcia.
Why in Saudi Arabia?

16. This game was originally supposed to take place in early 2022 but PSG's tour
had to be postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. At that time, Messi played
for PSG, but Ronaldo was still in Europe with Manchester United. However,
the contracts signed for this tour remained valid which is why PSG were
obliged to return as part of their latest visit to Qatar which has since hosted
the FIFA World Cup which Messi won with Argentina.
Will this be their last meeting?

17. It is possible that this is the final time that we see these two going up against
each other on the pitch. Their last meeting came in late 2020 when Juventus
thrashed Barcelona 3-0 and Ronaldo scored two penalties so these face-offs
are becoming increasingly rarer since the height of their rivalry in La Liga.
Never say never, but there is no guarantee that these two play in the same
league again so this could well be their last dance as adversaries.
Classic Messi vs. Ronaldo battles
The obvious head-to-head between Messi and Ronaldo has been the Ballon
d'Or which the Argentina has won seven times to the Portuguese's five. Messi
could yet add to his collection after triumphing in Qatar but there is less
confidence that Ronaldo will extend his set beyond the five that he already
has. It is probably safe to say that Messi has won this one.
18. Aug. 2011 -- Barca beat Real 3-2 in the Supercopa second leg with Messi
scoring twice and Ronaldo tallying once. It was not the most important of
games, but a Clasico remains a Clasico and it foreshadowed the explosive
growth of their rivalry on the global stage.
Oct. 2012 -- Both players scored twice in a 2-2 draw in La Liga which
included a sensational Messi free-kick. Barca were dominant that season, but
Real held their own in this one at Camp Nou and it was the perfect
illustration of how El Clasico became just about them at one point -- the
biggest rivalry in soccer in a collective and individual sense.
Mar. 2014 -- A 4-3 win for Barca away at Real in a Clasico for the ages with
Messi scoring three times and assisting the visitors' other goal and Ronaldo
scoring once for the beaten hosts. Santiago Bernabeu witnessed greatness that
night with Karim Benzema, Neymar, Andres Iniesta, and Sergio Ramos just
some of the supporting cast on an unforgettable night.

May 2018 -- Their final meeting in Barca and Real colors, each scored once in
a 2-2 draw just before Ronaldo's departure to Juventus signaled the end of
their dual La Liga dominance.
20. USMNT roster: Brandon Vazquez
and Alejandro Zendejas among 11
first-timers named for January camp
It's a new look USMNT group ahead of friendlies against Serbia and Colombia

21. Watch Now:
The United States men's national team's 24-man roster for their January
camp has been announced, and it includes a mix of European and MLS-based
prospects. Coached by interim manager Anthony Hudson, the team will play
friendlies against Serbia on Jan. 25 and Colombia on Jan. 28 in Southern
California. The roster includes six European-based players and two current
free agents who are working on finding new clubs which will give them a
chance to improve their fitness.
The battle for the futures of dual-nationals Alejandro Zendejas and Brandon
Vazquez, who are both eligible to represent Mexico, seems to have been
determined with them being included in the attacking core while defender
Julian Gressel has now picked up American citizenship to represent the
United States over Germany.
22. Led by core members like Walker Zimmerman, Kellyn Acosta and Paul
Arriola, this young roster will be able to get great experience on the journey
to potentially making the 2026 World Cup roster. Some players who were
close to making the 2022 World Cup roster like Vazquez, John Tolkin, and
Gabriel Slonina will be able to show why they can't miss out on another
World Cup.
According to Hudson, this camp will be a time for building depth in the
player pool.
"As we were putting this roster together, the focus has been around
identifying positions within our team that would benefit from more depth,"
Hudson said. "And then given the time of year being a January camp, it gives
us an opportunity to look at some real high-potential young players and also
some players that have been on our radar for some time. This gives us an
opportunity to look at them over the course of these two games."

(Middlesbrough/ENG; 6/1), Emmanuel Sabbi (Odense/DEN; 0/0), Brandon
Vazquez (FC Cincinnati; 0/0), Alejandro Zendejas (Club America/MEX; 0/0)
26. For the European inclusions, Paxten Aaronson and Jonathan Gomez are key
players to watch. With Gomez, a lack of depth at left-back and being able to
use this camp as a springboard for the U-20 World Cup makes it a fantastic
opporotunity. The camp is an important one as 30 players who have made
their debut during this camp have gone on to make a World Cup roster for
the United States, and there could be as many as 11 debutants this year.
The inclusion of Zendejas is something to watch due to him being eligible for
the Olympics. Representing the United States at youth levels, there was a
FIFA investigation into his eligibility, but he will be able to represent the
United States. Able to play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder,
Zendejas' star has been rising in Liga MX and he has six goals and two assists
in 21 appearances this season with America.
