Rosebud Restaurant Group has 12 restaurants and over 500 employees. As sole general counsel, I
reported directly to the CEO. Responsibilities included litigating corporate issues –
drafting/responding to complaints, compiled discovery for corporate issues, reviewed all
contracts/agreements, including real estate, purchase/supply & valet. Ensured company complies
with respective city ordinances.
Real estate: Negotiated all leases, managed the proper handling of building code violations or
issues. Instigated property tax reassessment and worked closely with tax attorney to ensure all documents
needed were available.
Employment: Formal liaison between managers/employees and Rosebud corporate. Took the lead role
in drafting a formalized Employee Handbook. Work with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to
promptly resolve all complaints and provide compliance. Held seminars to educate employees on
harassment issues and the proper method of reporting and reacting to potential situations. Play leading
role when terminating employees due to cause.
Corporate: Formalized the registration of Rosebud Restaurant's trademarks with the Federal Government.
Ensure annual reports for all the Rosebud entities are filed on time. Met with Federal Liquor
Commissioner to complete/secure liquor licenses for restaurants.
Marketing: Started Rosebud's Facebook and Twitter Accounts (secured over 1,000+ friends/followers).
Manage relationships with local publications (including Crain's Business and Chicago Scene). Provide
assistance with the graphic design process.
