2. What does image editing mean?
• Image editing refers to modifying or
improving digital or traditional photographic
images using different techniques, tools or
software.

3. • Images produced by scanners, digital
cameras or other image-capturing devices
may be good, but not perfect. Image editing
is done to create the best possible look for
the images and also to improve the overall
quality of the image according to different
parameters.

4. • Technically, all photography is "image
editing." From the moment you compose a
shot, you are editing—selecting a particular
window onto your subject, manipulating the
sense of depth in that window by choosing
a focal length and camera position,
emphasizing certain tones and colors
through exposure.

5. • In other words: though photographs may
appear realistic, they are a far cry from a
truly accurate representation of reality, and
represent one person's choice about what to
capture and display.

6. • Aside from these philosophical fine points,
there are, of course, other, more direct edits
and manipulations that the photographer can
make.

7. • From choosing exposure, to shooting
through filters, to dodging and burning,
airbrushing, and compositing,
photographers have long had the ability to
manipulate images.

8. • Digital photographers have even more
tools and options at their disposal, and
unlike traditional darkroom techniques,
digital tools don't require years of practice
to master.

9. • When you choose to shoot raw, you get
one or two new editing and correction
tools that aren't available in most image
editing programs.

10. • For the most part, though, raw converter
applications provide the same types of tools
that you find in any image editor, but with
one important difference: when you edit in a
raw converter, you have much more image
data to work with, which means that you can
perform edits that are much more refined.

12. Graphics
• Graphics are visual representations. They
are created as singular images or combined
with text, illustrations and other elements
with the goal of communicating messages
to target viewers.

13. Graphics editing
• Graphics editing is one of the areas where it
seems technological advancements are
happening all the time. In everyday life we
constantly observe various images displayed
on billboards, in advertisements and the like.

14. • These graphics images are being expertly
edited to create mental and emotional
"pictures" designed to communicate
specific, targeted messages.
• Graphics editing can be accomplished using
various software programs that can be
purchased in local computer shops or even
downloaded over the web.
