During my course I studied quantitative economics, the modern British economy, both macro and micro
economics, business competition/regulation as well as financial economics amongst others. I particularly enjoyed
my business accountancy module where I managed to achieve 78% in my final exam.
My dissertation surrounded the testing of market power within 4 EU countries in order to determine whether or not
the banking sector needed more or less intervention, this involved collecting and analysing over data for over 400
banks, each with 10 years worth of financial statements and data.

The Car Finance Company - Junior Underwriter Dec 2015 – Jul 2016
Underwriting for the sub-prime car finance market, analysing relationship between income, principle balance and
financial risk. Requesting sufficient proofs in order to accurately assess risk, in regards to both customers and
vehicles, undertaken by the company.
Responsibilities
Analysing different business procedures, providing proof and context in order to develop new methods.
Assessing customers credit profiles and assigning a product with different APR’s based on risk i.e. defaults,
credit slows, availability of search, age, income etc.
Requesting and assessing proofs to establish principle balances for customers. I.e. IVA permission letters,
bank statements, pay slips etc.
Calculating income for self employed customers and those who pose excessive credit risk.
Ensuring that vehicle makes, models, year and mileage fits the customer credit, budget and needs.
Achievements
Rewrote procedure on how to calculate self employed income, taking into account busines s expenditure
and tax, in order to reduce risk.
Created excel spreadsheet to record exactly how income was calculated taking into account tax and
business expenditure, and to include this in the documents when signing for the vehicle, so that self
employed default rates were reduced.
Created formulae to set customer max lend limits using a percentage of income compared to monthly
payments, at the request of the head of underwriting, analysed the effects of this change.
