This document outlines initiatives to strengthen India's forensic science infrastructure over the past 14 years. It discusses establishing mobile forensic investigation facilities in all districts, making forensic investigation compulsory for crimes with sentences over 7 years. It also describes establishing three new central forensic science laboratories, setting up 14 cyber forensic training laboratories in states, and approving 203 crores to strengthen existing forensic science laboratories. The overall goal is to integrate the criminal justice system with forensic science investigations.

Cyber forensic cum training laboratories established in states.

Establishment of National Forensic Science University, Gujarat
With the joint efforts of National Forensic Science University and the Director of Forensic Science
Services, National Forensic Science Academy is established.
The latest DNA analysis facilities at Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) Chandigarh
Special units established for the investigation of sexual harassment and murder cases, identification
of victims in man-made disasters, fatherhood and mitochondria.
For the cases of sexual harassment, guidelines issued for collection, transmission and storage of
forensic proofs
For trainings in the state areas 14,950 proof kits for sexual harassment were distributed.
3 new Central forensic science laboratories.
Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (14C) and National Cyber Forensic Lab ecosystem
established.
Rs.203 crores approved to strengthen the capacity of the forensic science laboratory.
National Automated Fingerprint Identification system (NAFIS): More than 1 crore fingerprints record
