2. How does your media product represent a
particular social group
Our product represents the social group of gender, we
show that with a “male” antagonist with a hidden face
and the weak female protagonist. We represented that
with the misc-en-scene, the black wearing and also
hidden antagonist and the weak feminine victim. We
underlined the antagonist with the case that he is taking
drugs, what is typical for a Thriller. However we didn’t
use sexuality as a social group because it may would miss
understand as a homophobic attack, which we didn’t
want to use in our film. This was a challenge with the
codes and conventions to show a more gender based
attack to see the common conventions of a Thriller
