- 11. Windows 8 Classroom Story Two hundred year 5 students were recently involved in the Year 5 Comic Festival at Varsity College. They worked for a day on a chosen activity. The focus was on giving the students uninterrupted time to work creatively on their device.

Year 5 Comic Festival Activity Description Requirements for activity Comic Claymation In this activity students utilised plasticine modelling tools and clay, tablet cameras and Movie Maker to develop a Comic Animation Modelling clay/tools Dell tablet cameras MovieMaker Scratch Students utilised Scratch to program and develop a comic animation. This activity gave student an opportunity to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively. Scratch Dell tablets Connectivity Powerpoint Students created comic digital images via PowerPoint they inserted images, removed backgrounds and inserted comic captions. Dell tablets Comic Art Students created comics with mixed media (colours, textas, paint, etc) added comments took photos and loaded into movie maker or powerpoint Tablets Mixed media resources Comic Cam app Cartoonism app Students used the apps Comic Cam and Cartoonism to ‘Cartoonise’ photos and images. They also utilised apps such as ArcSoft Showbiz, Movie Edit 2 or the program Movie Maker to further refine, develop and present the Cartoon. Bit Strips Students utilised the web 2.0 tool Bit Strips to make comics Create a class account Doodleinator Students utilised the app Doodleinator to create a comic Doodleinator
