3. INTRODUCTION
A multi-level inverter is a power electronic device which is
capable of providing desired alternating voltage level at the
using multiple lower level DC voltage as input.
It is like an inverter it is used for industrial applications as
alternative in high power and medium voltage situation.
Multilevel inverter have become more popular over the year in
electric high power application with less disturbance in voltage

4. HISTORY OF MONO RAIL
4
Gyroscopically balanced monorail
(1901) by Brennan and Scherl
Concept developed since 1800,first mono rail
in Russia in 1820.
First suspended mono rail was demonstrated
in 1886.
Most famous was floating railway in 1901, in
Germany.
Floating railway is still in daily use.
5. NEED OF MONO RAIL
Provides improved transportation.
Ease and safe transportation.
It can be installed in any congested area.
Mono rails are eco-friendly.
The traffic is increasing day by day, which is
making city not fit to live.

6. WORKING PRINCIPAL
6
Magnetic Levitation (Maglev)
Requires electric current to generate a
magnetic field.
Superconducting electric magnets in
the vehicle to levitate and propel the
train.
7. 7
Creates a magnetic field that attracts and
repels the superconducting magnets
Reversing the direction of AC: braking
Varying intensity of AC : speed change
8. TYPES OF MONO RAIL SYSTEM
Mono rail has two types
1) Straddle type -: mono rail in use today, is the straddle-
beam mono rail
The straddle-beam style was popularized by the German
company ALWEG.
8
13. TECHNICAL ASPECTS
Almost all modern mono rails are powered by electric
motors fed by dual third rails, contact wires or electrified
channels.
These are attached to or enclosed in their guidance beams.
However, diesel-powered monorail systems also exist.
13
14. SWITCHING
14
Current operating mono rails are capable of more efficient
switching than in the past.
Segmented Switch - The segmented switch is the most
commonly used straddle-beam mono rail switch in Japan.
15. MONO RAIL CONSTRUCTABILITY
15
Dig a hole
Drop in a pre-built support pylon
Truck in the track which was
manufactured offsite
Lift into place

19. DISADVANTAGES
To replace a section of track, the entire system needs to be
shut down.
It can not run without electricity.
Immediate exit is not possible
Limited passenger capacity.

HIGH SPEED
LIGHT WEIGHT
USE ELECTRICITY AS A FUEL

MUMBAI MONO RAIL
Mumbai Mono rail is a mono rail system in the city of
Mumbai.
Owner : Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development
Authority (MMRDA)
Began operation 2 February 2014 (line 1)
MONO RAIL IN INDIA
Besides, discussions are going on for Odissa, Bangalore,
Ahemdabad, Pune and other big cities.
Transit type Straddle-beam mono rail

FUTURE SCOPE
With the development of monorail and its advantages
over conventional rail system, monorail is the
technology for the future.
Monorail will be hitting the rapid construction and
operation replacing the conventional system. Operation
of monorail will be saving the precious fuel.
With more research works going on about the monorail
it can be made more advanced and more environmental
friendly.
25. CONCLUSION
With the increase in the construction technology of Monorail ,
it can reduce the use of city buses in narrow and busy road .
It will provide comfort to the passengers because of its
suitability in the congested areas.
