Arthur Powell Bio 2
1. Arthur Powell
Biography
Arthur has first-hand knowledge of youth gang violence. He became exposed to the criminal
elements of the streets at the early age of 13. By age 15, he was involved with neighborhood
cliques, which later became recognized as “gangs”. When Arthur (street name “Art”) was 19 he
met a drug dealer who took him under his wing and gave him power to terrify anyone who was
against their family (gang), which was called “I Refuse Posse”. From the years of 1988-1992, I
Refuse Posse reigned terror on the streets of Atlanta. Arthur was a major contributor to much of
the gang violence that took place in Atlanta. In 1993, his criminal activity finally sent him to
prison for 11 years and 6 months.
While incarcerated, Arthur changed mentally and spiritually. He pledged to dedicate his life to
help keep our youth out of Criminal Street Gangs. Considering Arthur’s affiliation with gangs in
the past and having experience of serving a lengthy prison term, he offers a magnitude of insight
into the world of youth violence, street life, and provides solutions to prevent criminal and gang
activities.
Arthur is now a Gang Prevention Expert/Life Skills Coach and has started his own company
E.G.R.E.S.S. Consultants, LLC. E.G.R.E.S.S. is an acronym for Ex Gangsta Reviewing
