4. About ST Scope and ECCO
Strategic Scope Kft. has been working as a full service agency in Hungary for 18 years
mainly in the fields of energy, media, the tobacco industry, motorway construction,
environment protection and nonprofit sector with clients including ministries, local-
governments and various public sector groups.

8. Different social media types
User generated contents can be divided into four main categories:
> Video contents
> Social networking sites
> Blogs
> Virtual worlds
Social networking sites are created to provide a platform for virtual communities. They
can be used for a particular function as in the case of Twitter where only 140 characters
(microblog entries) can be posted answering one question, “What are you doing now?”
Another type of social networking systems is built to provide users several website
functions like photo albums, videos, blogs, mailing etc. The most versatile platforms such
as Facebook offer a wide range of opportunities to use and share the so called widgets
created by the community (DIGITÁLIS MÉDIA Tények könyve 2009, NEO).

10. Case study examples
Hungarian companies are still looking at the ways and means
of how best to exploit the advantages of social media. Hardly
any companies are using social media tools at the moment,
consequently no relevant case studies can be found on the
Internet. Twitter is becoming more and more popular in the
business sphere but few firms consider this sort of tool important
yet. Research on Hungarian Twitters is available here:

12. Online social media tools, tricks and listening to
the online conversation
International and country-specific online tools for listening into online brand conversations
available in Hungary are listed below:
/ General Tools:
> Google Alerts – can help you track what is being said and receive streaming or batched
reports. Set a comprehensive alert to monitor across various media – news, blogs, web,
videos and groups.
> Dolphia – is a Hungarian search engine for social news.
/ Platform-specific Tools include:
> Google Blog Search (and Google Blog Alerts) – Google’s index of blog posts, allows
you to see who is blogging about your brand and what they’re saying. With Google
Blog Alerts you can set up daily, weekly or as-it-happens alerts for any time someone
mentions your brand online.
> Technorati allows you to search the blogosphere. You should search for your brand on
Technorati and subscribe to RSS alerts so you can find out when someone blogs about
you.
> Miner.hu – is the second blog searching tool in Hungary. You cannot add a new blog but
a search engine examines available blogs
> Blogsearch.hu – is the first country-specific platform for blog search although it proved
useful only after an improved relaunch.

frequently mentioned on the Internet. These are:

the Hungarian versions of Wordpress and Blogger (Google).

of bloggers are between the age of 20-32 and 58% of active Internet users reading blogs
