3. Una dieta es la cantidad de alimentos que un ser vivo proporciona a su organismo. La
dieta, por tanto, define nuestro comportamiento nutricional, es decir, se trata de un
conjunto de nutrientes que el cuerpo absorbe después del consumo habitual de
alimentos.
La dieta constituye un hábito y una forma de vivir. Es cierto que, la mayor parte de las
veces, este término se emplea para referirse a los regímenes especiales para bajar de
peso o para combatir determinadas enfermedades, aunque la realidad es que estos
casos representan modificaciones en la dieta y no una dieta en sí misma.
Por otra parte, se considera que una dieta beneficiosa para la salud del ser humano, es
decir, una dieta balanceada y equilibrada, debe contener la cantidad suficiente de
calorías y nutrientes esenciales para el correcto crecimiento y desarrollo del organismo
en cada una de las etapas de la vida. Una alimentación saludable debe aportar, por
tanto, carbohidratos, proteínas y grasas (además de vitaminas y minerales) en las
proporciones adecuadas para disminuir el riesgo de padecer enfermedades crónicas.

Está demostrado que la alimentación y la salud caminan
de la mano, ya que una correcta dieta ayuda a promover
la salud y a prevenir enfermedades. Existen muchos
estudios que relacionan la dieta y las enfermedades
crónicas (cardiovasculares, obesidad, diabetes mellitus,
etc).

pork, all of which can form part of a
healthy diet

Oils and spreads. Some fat in our diet is
essential but most of us eat too much.
