The Council of Ecopreneurs is an advisory think tank that analyzes and encourages business models in environmental and alternative energy sectors. It focuses on the green economy and sustainable business strategies. The council studies case studies of companies in areas like biofuels production and green job creation. It also supports local small businesses and projects that engage youth in green education.
2. Committee Overview
Council of Ecopreneurs
The Council of Ecopreneurs is an
advisory think tank of industry
leaders and investors who analyze
and encourage enterprising behavior
that will help pave the way for the
future development of conceptual
business models in environmental
and alternative energy sectors.
12. Green Jobs and Workplaces
Given strong and rapidly rising interest in energy alternatives, future years may well see
worldwide employment soar—possibly as high as 2.1 million in wind energy and 6.3 million in
solar PVs by 2030, and on the order of 12 million jobs in biofuels related agriculture and
industry. This represents a possible total employment for renewables of over 20 million jobs
by 2030.
13. Invest in Local Small Business
According to the U.S. Census every
1 Billion spent with a small business will create
about 50,000 jobs.
17. Green Job Creation
There is vigorous and
contentious debate over their
economic and environmental
cost and merits, their energy
content and energy net balance,
and whether they directly
compete with food production.
Half of these jobs are in
biofuels—mostly in agriculture
(growing and collecting of
feedstock), but also in (better
paying) processing industries.
18. Teens Build Soybean-Fueled Car
Futuristic After-School Project Wows Crowd At Philly Auto Show
The five kids, along with a handful of
schoolmates, built the soybean-fueled
car as an after-school project. It took
them more than a year — rummaging
for parts, configuring wires and
learning as they went. As teacher
Simon Hauger notes, these kids
weren't exactly the cream of the
academic crop.
"We have a number of high school
dropouts," he says. "We have a
number that have been removed for
disciplinary reasons and they end up
with us. .
