2. In science class, Ms. Jose gives her pupils
some eggplant seeds to plant and look after.
After giving the pupils the instructions on how
to plant eggplants, Ms. Jose leads them to the
school garden and instructs them to start
planting.
Adrian, a boy in Ms. Jose’s class
loves eating eggplants. He is so excited that
he plants the seeds and looks after them with
great care for many days. After a week, he
hears that some of the boys put the seeds in
a bottle with water first, so they will grow
faster. Because he wants to see his eggplant
grow as soon as possible, he digs up the
seeds he has planted in the soil and soaks
them in water.

The next day, Adrian opens his social
media account and read something
about eggplant seeds. The article
says that the eggplant seeds should
be placed under the sun, so that they
will grow faster. Adrian then takes the
seeds from the bottle of water and
lets them dry under the sun.
After two weeks, Adrian
happens to watch a TV program
about increasing one’s income by
planting vegetables. He becomes so
confused now. By this time, some of
his classmates’ plants starting to
sprout.
4. Their plants already have leaves, but his seeds are still seeds. He starts feeling hopeless and
angry. He does not know what to do anymore. He thinks of uprooting one of his classmate’s
seedlings and passing them off as his own, but he stops himself from doing so.
Adrian is so frustrated that he starts to cry. His mother notices him crying and asks him
what is wrong. He tells his mother everything. “My poor boy,” his mother tells him. “You should not
listen to everything you hear. Your teacher’s instructions are already enough to help your
eggplants grow well. Most importantly, learn how to be patient and wait. You should not rush
things because waiting is necessary in achieving success.
5. “I know that now, Mother. Thank you for your advice. I have also learned many things
from our lesson in planting. Next time, I will do better. I will try not to rush things and just wait for
good things to happen. I know now that what is important is that I have to practice my patience at
all time,” Adrian tells his mother.
The following day, Adrian goes to school and sees his classmates’ eggplant seedlings. He
then approaches his teacher and says that he has not able to grow anything from his eggplant
seeds. His teacher gives him another chance, but this time, he must plant potatoes and take care
of them for the days to come.
After two and half months of taking care of his potatoes, Adrian is able to harvest potatoes
for each person in his class. It may have taken so long, but with his patience and hard work, he is
finally able to taste the best-tasing potatoes in the world.
