AIESEC UNS is the only AIESEC chapter
located in Solo, Central Java, Indonesia.
And here you can find the answer to the questions which
frequently asked about AIESEC.
Do I have to be a member of AIESEC UNS to go on an AIESEC Exchange
program?
No. Any University student (undergraduate or graduate) or recent graduate
(within two years) can go on an AIESEC exchange and internship program.
AIESEC members work to facilitate this exchange process.
How does AIESEC exchange program differ from other providers of
exchange?
AIESEC does not define itself as provider of exchange only. Rather, AIESEC
offers you many different opportunities to discover and develop your potential.
Although exchange program is an essential part of the experience you can gain in
AIESEC, it is closely linked to other experiences rather than separated from them.
Throughout the program, you will meet and connect with AIESECers from around
the world, participate in local AIESEC conferences, and develop yourself through
challenges you face during your exchange. As our program is aimed at personal
development through connecting with communities and AIESEC chapters abroad,

you will get a unique experience with exchange participants who come from all
around the world.
What does the program offer?
The AIESEC exchange program offers an intense cultural and leadership
development experience. AIESEC UNS will prepares you for the internship, while
the AIESEC chapter in the receiving country helps you apply for visa, work permit
and organises your accommodation. In addition, the local AIESECers will take
care of you when you arrive, introduce and familiarize you with their culture, and
organize events where you can get to know other exchange participants.
What requirement are there? Is there a selection process?
In essence to go on exchange with AIESEC there are some requirements:
Be a student or maximum 2 years after you finished your degree.
Younger than age 30.
Open-mindedness and interest toward other cultures.
Passed the selection process (Document selection, focus group discussion
and interview selection)
University marks are not considered
What types of exchange does AIESEC offer?
AIESEC UNS offers you with two different exchange programs:
Global Talent Program: An opportunity to take a professional Internships
experience in an area related to your studies.

Global Youth Ambassador Program: An opportunity to contribute
positively to social change in another country while experiencing a foreign
culture
Where can I go on exchange?
AIESEC has a global network which expands across 124 countries
and territories around the world, which means you can go almost anywhere.
However, we will recommend countries and internships that have previously
provided quality experiences for students from UNS. These countries include
Russia, Poland, India, Thailand, China, Vietnam, Rumania, Malaysia and many
more. Conversely, there are several countries we do NOT recommend for your
own safety.
Will I receive a salary during my exchange program?
For our Global Talent Program you will receive a salary depends on the contract
whilst for our Global Youth Ambassador Program participants would generally
have food and accommodation covered by the hosting entity.
How much do I have to pay the AIESEC cost?
The fee is dependent on which program you enter and will not cover costs
associated with traveling and your living expenses abroad:

Matching : Rp 1.000.000,-
Realize : Rp.500.000,-
Administration fee : 150.000,- +
Total : Rp 3.650.000,-

We are a not for profit organization, so these fees cover costs of reception, and
maintaining our international database. Students are encouraged to apply for
fellowships to offset these costs.
Do I receive a refund if I cannot find a suitable internship?
AIESEC exchange fees are non-refundable should you be unable to find and
Internship or decided to withdraw from our program. We undertake a selection
process to ensure that candidates who are entering our exchange programs have the
best chance of finding and Internship

What kind of contract will I have to sign?
After passing through selection you will be offered a place in one of our exchange
program. Here you will be given a copy of your exchange contract which you will
have time to review and return. There won’t be any horrible surprises, however if
you would like to view a copy before this feel free to ask for one during selection.
Who will help me in my host country?
All the exchange program are based on a local committee nearby, which is there to
help you during your internship. More concretely, the members of this hosting
local committee organize your accommodation, pick you up from the airport /
station, show you around in the city and accompany you to work on your first day.
In addition, they will integrate you into their activities, organize events for you and
the other interns and help you get to know the people and culture of your host
country. If there should be any problems, there will always be someone to help
you. We will keep in contact with you and support you in every possible way.
Can I look at your exchange pool/ database before paying the fee and
participating in the AIESEC Exchange Program?
Unfortunately our database is effectively only for people who sign the contract and
pay the administration fee, we cannot allow you to access the database beforehand.
If you are however interested to know what type of exchange program we have
specifically, you can contact our friendly exchange team and they will be happy to
pull some sample off the system to let you have a look at. In addition, we also have
many Exchange Participant returnee that have been on our program, and are more
than happy to chat to you!

internships outside of AIESEC. This can reflect poorly on AIESEC as an
organisation.
Do I have to be fluent in English to participate?
Depending on the program you are entering and the specific Internship you take
there can be a requirement for fluency in English. As an example many of the
Internships in our Global Talent Program will require you to work in English and
so for this program we will require candidates to be fluent. For our Global Youth
Ambassador Program program we are more flexible on this as it is a very good
opportunity to Improve your English or other foreign language skills. We will not
require you to pass a TOEFL or IELTS.
Will I be by myself?
It depends on which internship you choose - some have up to 10 interns from all
over the world working on the one project, whilst others will have only one
position available. If you're worried about being alone, don't stress! The local
AIESEC chapter in your host city will always be around to help you out if you
need advice or want some buddies to hang out with.
Can I go with a friend?
Yes if you lucky. But due to the limited number of participant for each program, it
is hard to match you to the same program as your friend. AIESEC encourages that
those who are going on exchange with us, do so individually. Our programs are
focused on self development and you will only get the most of this experience if
you are outside of your comfort zone! If you are worried about being alone,

chances are you'll be working with participants from all around the world, as well
as AIESECers in that city!
Will AIESEC cover my airfare and visa?
No, AIESEC does not cover airfare and visa so it is recommended that you
research the costs whilst you are being matched to a program.
Does AIESEC cover on-site accommodation?
It is the responsibility of AIESEC to arrange accommodation for every exchange
participant. Home stays, apartments, and whether or not the intern has to pay for
housing depends on the specific internship program. Generally, we will match you
to an exchange program that provides accommodation and it will either cost very
little or nothing at all.
