Presentation on SSEMP

  1. 1. SITE SPECIFIC ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN (SSEMP)
  2. 2. WHAT IS SSEMP? The site-specific EMP shall refer to the policies, plans and procedures for communicating Project specific environmental protection matters within the Contractor's organization and to Sub- Contractors entering the worksite.
  3. 3. OBJECTIVES OF SSEMP • Identify the potential negative environmental impacts that can result from the planned construction activities, and identify measures to control or avoid these impacts within the Contractual constraints. • Outline specific roles and responsibilities of Contractor staff related to environmental management as defined in the Contract. • List reporting, training, auditing, and other procedures required to ensure appropriate site environmental management as defined in the Contract.
  4. 4. PROJECT PHASES There are two phases of the project 1. PRE-CONSTRUCTION PHASE / DESIGNING PHASE  Plaining  Survey  Identification of Hazards  Mitigation Measures
  5. 5. 2. CONSTRUCTION PHASE  Implementation  Monitoring  Maintenance
  6. 6. WHAR IS HAZARD? A hazard is something that can cause harm.  TYPES OF HAZARDS 1. Physical Hazards 2. Chemical Hazards 3. Biological Hazards 4. Psychological Hazards 5. Ergonomic Hazards
  7. 7. PHYSICAL HAZARD  Vibration  Electricity  Slip Trip  Work at height MITIGATION MEASURES • Reduce the vibration at source • Limit the duration of exposure • Protecting the receiver • Create a safe place • Eliminate the hazard • Use Safety harness
  8. 8. CHEMICAL HAZARD Mitigation Measures  Isolate the process  Use proper PPES (Masks , Gloves, Goggles )
  9. 9. Biological Hazard  Coronavirus Harmful plants Harmful Animals Dust Particles MITIGATION MEASURES  Use Proper PPES (Masks , Gloves, Safety shoes).  Worker Must be vaccinated
  10. 10. Psychological Hazards  Work related stress  Harassment  Alcohol and Drug use Mitigation Measures  Preventing and managing stress in the workplace before it becomes a risk to health and safety.  Having senior management commitment to reducing workplace stress  Workers should not drugs addicted.
  11. 11. Ergonomic Hazards  Vibration  Temperature  Work Environment  Welfare Mitigation Measures  Provide easy access of drinking water.  Provide good work place ventilation.  Provide frequent break and job rotation.
  12. 12. EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN Emergency Situations Following emergencies may occur at workplaces: • Fire • Fuel spillage • Gas leaks • Injury from machinery and equipment. • Fall, climbing accident. • Emergency as a result of environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, wet, snow, wind, lightning, bushfires, floods) emergencies. • Hazardous substances and chemical spills
  13. 13. EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN • Keep heavy equipment away from trench edges. • Keep surcharge loads at least 2 feet from trench edges. • Know where underground utilities are located. • Test for low oxygen, hazardous fumes and toxic gases. • Inspect trenches at the start of each shift. • Inspect trenches following a rainstorm. • Equipment will be removed from the affected area. • The nearest hospital should be informed for possible causalities
  14. 14. EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN  Plan for management of excavated soil/asphalt/concrete.  Plan for traffic control.  Excavation permits.  First Aid kit should be present at site .
  15. 15. TRAFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN The purpose of the traffic management plan is to provide a framework describing M/s TMT JV MAC will manage the traffic aspects of the Water Distribution Network and construction of allied works. This traffic management plan will provide the processes to ensure that the project maintains the appropriate control to manage the traffic in and around the project during the construction phase of the project.
  16. 16. TRAFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN • Safety of roads while movement of construction vehicle. • Ensure there is safe interface between construction traffic and local traffic. • Eliminate the risk of injury to local traffic users and construction personnel. • Minimize traffic delays and traffic issues. • The traffic shall observe the speed limit, defensive driving shall be encouraged and implemented
