6. EXTERNAL MARKET
✤
✤
✤
✤
Competition is thriving - Samsung, Amazon, IBM, Cisco, Google, Microsoft, Dell, HP, and Sony included.
The business climate is majorly international, with over half of Apple’s sales occurring outside of America. The climate is subject
to the economy, seeing as how Apple products are “luxury good”. That being said, when money goes, the need for Apple
products goes as well. Apple has helped globalization across all continents to spread, something the new proposed technology
will help to maximize. The technological business climate is consistently changing and growing.
Business opportunities include: keeping up with competitors to see what innovative technologies are working and not working in
the specific market. This will help Apple to maintain it’s standing as always being one step ahead of the competition. An
opportunity to break into the television world with iTV (perhaps leading to a revenue stream revolving around production) and
the partnerships that will ensue (Netflix, Hulu, the world’s leading cable provider Comcast), is present. iCamera’s that are
compatible with the iCloud are in development phases. Car radio technologies are bound to be broken into, with stereo
interfaces that are iCloud capable and can upload user iT
unes libraries
Apple’s largest business threats include a rapidly changing market and yearly tax increases. Apple’s largest competitor,
Google’s Android, is quickly becoming an industry gate keeper with released features that Apple has yet to add to their
repertoire. A large innovation decline has halted Apple in its tracks, as users are still waiting for a release that is entirely
different from what they already have. Samsung’s constant lawsuits against the company are tarnishing Apple’s reputation, and
it’s rapidly faltering relationships with China and India are slowing production down drastically.

8. CHALLENGES
✤
✤
✤
✤
Loss of innovation.
Apple has not released a remarkably new
product in quite some time, a noticeable
difference from their competitors.
Apple’s next release must exceed it’s
preceding releases in numerous ways,
especially before the next market shift.
We introduce to you the new and
improved, all operating system
compatible, iCloud.
Tuesday, January 21, 14
9. ✤
iCloud technology is the next big thing in the electronics
world, and Apple is ready to bring it to you first.
✤
Documents will be accessible via cell phones, tablets,
laptops, or desktop computers anywhere in the world.
✤
iCloud’s groundbreaking technology will rid operating
system incompatibility and create a file type that is easily
encrypted and read by any operating system all over the
world.
✤
This is the new and improved iCloud.

11. OPERATIONS
✤
✤
✤
✤
✤
✤
Apple already own’s the “iCloud” technology, so this advancement isn’t necessarily new to the Operations department.
A computer support team will be implemented to develop the software that makes the documents compatible upon their upload
into the iCloud.
Research and development teams will continue their research into the demographic, figuring out what is and is not working in the
market.
Because the technology is expanding, it will not affect production or distribution in a negative way.
The iCloud is web-based and accessed through a secure Internet connecting, so no further hardware will be needed to
implement the software, thus negating any production costs.
iCloud will require log-in information, as well as a yearly cost to non-Mac users. Mac users will receive a discounted rate if their
membership is being acquired through a registered Mac product. This will increase Apple’s yearly revenue by nearly 20%,
helping to bring Apple out of it’s annual deficit. Additionally, storage and international plans will be provided.

12. SALES AND MARKETING
✤
✤
✤
✤
✤
The greatest marketing strength of the new iCloud technology - PC and Mac devices
working together. We now can reach into the minds of dedicated PC users. We will rid the
market of PC vs. Mac and become PC and Mac.
Large businesses will be a target; focus on international business and document sharing.
Rids businesses of worrying about annoying email attachments, lost in translation issues, or
document incompatibility.
Biggest outreach will include a one month free trial for small and large companies alike, as
well as discounted rates per 50 sign ups per business.
An Apple spokesteam will prepare presentations for in-office visits and technology-related
panels across the globe, increasing awareness of the iCloud technology.
Tuesday, January 21, 14
13. LEGAL
✤
✤
✤
Apple owns all rights to the iCloud technology and will implment ownership
and licensure as needed. We will make sure to take the proper precautions
to ensure no ownership or infringement issues arise.
Patent and copyright laws to both the hardware and software will be
studied and put into affect accordingly. Necessary patent and copyrights
will be paid for and obtained through the government and all international
entities.
Data uploaded to the iCloud will be via a secure network (https: rather
than http:), with no chance of being stolen or accessible to anyone other
than owner-approved users.
Tuesday, January 21, 14
14. ETHICAL
✤
✤
✤
By making the iCloud user-friendly and internationally compatible
regardless of user operating systems, we rid any discrimination towards
computer, tablet, laptop, or cell phone users. Price will be reasonable for
any working class.
The only foreseeable ethical problem would be the cost for an “every day
user” via a “business user”.
The increase in business across the globe will appeal to the shareholders
of Apple.

16. Over the last 3 years, there is no doubt that Apple’s revenue has increased substantially, even
with the devastating death of Apple’s own Steve Jobs. From 2011 to 2012 alone, Apple’s revenue
increased by over 44%, and then again with a smaller increase in 2013 of 9%. As for Gross Profit,
Apple has suffered by the end of 2013, with a decrease of over 6% compared to 2012. This
problem can easily be explained however by consumers being increasingly more interest in
Apple’s older and less-expensive products. This fact has also damaged their net income, by
decreasing a little over 11%. As for operating expenses, Apple has been steadily increasing the
amount of money invested into research and development over the last three years. This is
quite obvious, as new and improved Apple devices are being released faster than ever.
Apple’s two largest financial competitors are Google’s Android, and Hewlett-Packard. However,
when it comes down to the three businesses’ Income Statements, Apple is financially stronger
than the others. This could be simply because of Apple’s brand image. Consumers are familiar
with the company as a whole, and have become comfortable with their products and software
more than any other company.
Please see the following graphs, which will help to visualize Apple’s standing vs. it’s competitors.
