Spain is the third largest manufacturer and exporter of machine
tools in the European Union. This is the best demonstration

Founded in 1946, AFM, the Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association of Spain represents almost a hundred
companies that account for 94% of the sector's total production in Spain. AFM's work centres on encouraging
competitiveness, defending its members' interests and fostering growth in the sector. Through a very wide
range of services, it helps to reinforce the international deployment of its members and further develop their
ongoing commitment to technological innovation, from its head offices in the San Sebastian Technology Park
and since its setting up in Tianjin (China).

In 1962, it became a member of CECIMO, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries, holding
one of the permanent vice chairs and the Presidency in its turn.

AFM is also the co-organiser, together with Bilbao Exhibition Centre, of the BIEMH, the Spanish Machine
Tool Biennial, the sector's fourth largest trade fair in the world and the third in Europe.

SPECIAL AUTOMATIC MACHINE FOR GREASE APPLICATION IN SEAT TRACKS
AGME design and manufacture grease application solutions
for automotive components assembly. In this workstation
the following operations are performed:

Application of four lines of grease to each lower track

Application of grease to several components on the
upper track


The spray greasing technology is based on contact free
application with extremely precise adjustment of quantities and
high process reliability. It comprises of the following devices:

18 spray valves with special nozzle extensions and grease
distributors
Grease pressure control system with pressure sensor and
software (air bubbles are detected)
Tandem grease pump system (barrel can be changed
without stopping the production)
Servo controlled axis for valves movement

Other grease application systems that can be incorporated to
the assembly machines are pulsing (for very small dot
applications) and dosing.

AGME design and manufacture special
purpose machines for assembling links to tubes
by tube end forming processes.

After the parts are loaded, the two forming
units assemble the links to the tubes by beading
the tube on both sides of each link.

This type of machines are capable of
performing many other operations in the tubes:
roll beading, 90º form flange, flanging, single

Inside of our microdots marking systems all of our marking machines models can
mark the DATA MATRIX code , which it is a type of code, identification and traceability
in two dimensions (2D), which, it is used a lot in the Automotion sector.

Find attached herewith one picture where it can see the appearance of a marking
in this type of code and two more corresponding to two of our marking machines.
In one of them the machine is portable and in the other one the marking head is
ready to be integrated in any automated production line. Both models can mark
the code previous mentioned and have a marking surface of 50x17mm. Obviously,
there are models with larger marking surfaces in function of the requirements of
each case.

The production of parts directly from coil moving
progressively through the die gives a very high machine
and material efficiency, essentially in small and medium
size parts but now thanks to FAGOR recent developments
also for bigger parts (including high strength material).

A line consists of uncoiler, special leveller and servo
driven roll feed (pusher and puller eventually). Automated
evacuation of scrap material and finished parts combined
with variable speed and variable stroke allows optimum
production speeds to be achieved. In many cases more
than one component can be produced per blow.

SERVO-DRIVEN MECHANICAL PRESS
The main feature of servo-driven presses is the elimination of the inertia flywheel
and clutch and brake and its replacement with direct coupling between the main
drive motor of the press and the slide movement transmission.

The simplification of the transmission in combination with advanced control and the
use of high performance servomotors ensure that servo-driven presses are especially
advantageous for processes in which the position and speed of the slide have to
be controlled in real time: trying out dies and special materials stamping and
processing (thixoforming, plastic, aluminium, resin injection, high strength etc)

Servo-driven presses enable the slide position curves, speed and stroke to be
programmed so that different manufacturing processes can be carried out with just
one press, including jobs that could not be done with mechanical presses until now:
connecting rod-crank eccentric, Link-Drive, stopping at BDC of press, blanking,
feeder transfer type multi-processes, high rate production, etc.

LARGE AND X-LARGE TANDEM LINES FOR SKIN PANELS
The manufacture of body panels for the automotive industry requires
the linking of a number of large bed presses to form a production line.

The lead press making the initial form used to be double action design.
However, today new models are being developed around the use of
a high tonnage single action press with a programmable hydraulic
die cushion. Fagor Arrasate is at the forefront of this developing
technology with several successful installations already proven in the
field. Subsequent operations are performed by single action presses.

Automation of the line is achieved by incorporating destacker, inter
press handling (crossbar, robots) and moving bolster for quick die
change.

LARGE AND X-LARGE TRANSFER LINES FOR REINFORCEMENT PARTS (HIGH STRENGTH MATERIAL)

These presses are designed to transfer components from stage to
stage within one structure producing completed components in an
automated sequence.

At the heart of the machine is the press rigidity and press throughput
through the transfer system. Fagor Arrasate has designed and
developed its own electronic transfer system using commercially
available components and “state of the art” engineering, it can
be purposed built or adapted for retro-fitting to machines already
in the field. Infinite adjustments through the three axes of movements
provides the optimal curve to reach the maximum parts per minute,
subsequently is a very flexible stamping cell.

Delivery of material to the machine can be directly from coil using
an uncoiler, leveller and pinch rolls or from blanks fed from a
purpose build destacker. Destackers can also be adapted for
retrofitting to machines already in the field.
