 Inter-Disciplinary Project Work
    (IPW) provides opportunities for
    students to explore the inter-
    relationships and inter-
    connectedness of subjects.

 Through the IPW curriculum,
    students will be able to:
    ◦ source for information and apply it
      critically
    ◦ improve oral and written communication
      skills
    ◦ foster collaborative learning skills
Learners will understand
that…
  …effective communication is
  important to bring our ideas
  across to our intended
  audience.
  …group processes are
  necessary to work productively
  and effectively in a team.
…it is important to discern the
  validity of the information
  gathered through verifying the
  credibility of the source and
  consulting multiple sources.
 There are 5 Performance Tasks to be completed
over the course of Semester 1

 Each Performance Task is further broken down to
    a few components
 Group facilitator: moderates discussions, keeps the group
on task, assures work is done by all, and makes sure all
have opportunity to participate and learn.

 Timekeeper: monitors time and moves group along so that
they complete the task in the available time, keeps area
clean, assumes role of any missing group member.

 Recorder: takes notes of the group's discussion and
    prepares a written conclusion.

 Checker: makes sure that all group members understand
the concepts and the group's conclusions.

 thoughtful, committed people can
change the world. Indeed, it is the
     only thing that ever has."
