The German choreographer and dance teacher Volker
Eisenach is teaching for 34 Mongolian students from
different public schools to produce the contemporary dance
performance.
In course of the celebration of 45th anniversary of
diplomatic relations between the Federal Republic of
Germany and Mongolia, 30th anniversary of reunification
of Germany and 70th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift, Arts
Council of Mongolia (ACM) and Arts & Media Project
Management & Consulting NGO, and Freundeskreis der
Jugendkunstschule Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf e.V. are
together implementing the “To The History of The Berlin
Airlift” children’s contemporary dance production with the
initiation of Ms.O.Oyuntuya, Cultural Envoy of Mongolia.
The project aims to deepen cultural and educational
collaboration between two countries through youth arts
education.
With the official partner, the German Embassy in
Ulaanbaatar, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal
Republic of Germany and sponsor Konrad-Adenauer-
Stiftung Mongolia and partner PASCH-Schools partnership
program, “To the History of the Berlin Airlift” children’s
contemporary dance performance is going to be implemented
from May 6th to May 18th, 2019 in Ulaanbaatar city.
The project aims to strengthen the collaboration of arts,
culture and language through 10 days intensive contemporary
dance training to promote the artistic and aesthetic education,
including chance to learn from world history for youth. The
dance production is based on the historical event of the
Berlin Blockade in 1948-49 and will feature the importance
of friendship, humanity and unity which revealed by the
Western Allies “Berlin Airlift” act of carrying supplies to the
people of West Berlin. In order to execute the production, 34
Mongolian high school students will take 10 days intensive
dance training to learn contemporary dance elements and
rhythm for depicting the historical event which makes it
remarkable.
Under the choreography of artistic director Volker
Eisenach from Germany, the 34 students from 9 high schools
in Ulaanbaatar. As a final result, “To the History of The
Berlin Airlift” children’s contemporary dance performance
will be performed on the stage of the Ulaanbaatar Ensemble
on May 18, 2019 at 5 pm for public with free of charge.

Ballet and Contemporary Dance and the Imperial Society
of Teachers of Dancing in London. He first got involved
with dance at his grammar school at the age of 15. In 1992
he co-founded Faster-Than-Light-Dance-Company (FTL)
and became Artistic Director in 1998. During his career he

Bregenz Festival, Vienna Festival, Harare International
Festival of the Arts in Zimbabwe, Opera Neukölln, Bach-
Days Halle, International Music Festival Holstebro in
Denmark and „Jedermann“-Theatre-Festival at Berlin
Cathedral. He has also choreographed for numerous schools
and community projects in Germany and abroad. With
Berliner Philharmoniker, Volker Eisenach has worked since
„The Rite of Spring“/“’Rhythm is it!“ as choreographer,
assistant and rehearsal director on a variety of education
projects. Since 2003 he has worked extensively with his
former teacher Royston Maldoom for projects in Europe,
North America and New Zealand.
Arts Council of Mongolia (ACM) is an arts and
culture NGO, established by Mongolian arts, civic, and
business leaders in 2002 with the support of the Mongolian
Foundation for an Open Society (Soros Foundation).
Its mission is to support the sustainable development of
Mongolian arts and culture and the preservation of cultural
heritage. ACM promotes artistic excellence; preserves
Mongolian cultural heritage; promotes creativity of youth
and children; and brings arts to the public.
In 2018-2019, ACM is organizing the 11th edition of
ACM Fellowship program with support of ACM-US that
aims to enhance their leadership and arts management skills,
and promote their collaboration. This year, the program
has involved 20 emerging young leaders from film, visual
art, performing art, cultural heritage and media fields and
enhanced their networking and practical experience by
attending more than 22 series of trainings on leadership,
strategic planning, project management and marketing,
fundraising, copyright and intellectual property, cultural
policy and governance.
Furthermore, the program provides leadership and
efficient team work skills for its participants by providing
practical opportunity to execute joint small scale of
community service project. ACM Fellows granted with
amount of $600 to implement four different joint community
service projects which were aimed to encourage arts access
and arts education for youth and community.
The first team has implemented the “Little Heroes”
project which focused to inspire children with cancer through
creating a children’s picture book. They have cooperated
with the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at National
Maternal and Child Health Center. The project also provided
a series of art activities for those children. Such as “My
Hero” a painting workshop held on 21st of March, “Cartoon
day” organized on 28th of March, “Fairy Tale” puppet show
was played on 11th of April. The main outcome of this
project, the “Little Heroes” book launch will be held on 16th
of May, 2019.
Second team implemented the "Rhythm of
Silence" contemporary dance production project
for deaf children. Music is everywhere. Some
of them can’t hear it. But deep in their heart,
they always feel the rhythm. On this project of
dance, fellows collaborated with the school #29
of children with special needs. Students divided
into groups and learned their favorite types of
dances. On April 25th, the project team gathered
the students, their parents and teachers at Ancore
Concert Hall to present the result of their project.
The students who participated in the project
performed on the stage and showed what they
can, what they can do. By understanding through
body language, they have learned how to portray
a message using body movements, and how to
interpret body signals from others. Some people
has ears however they never truly understand
what music is. But these children were feeling
the music with their body and mind, and were
dedicating themselves into it.
Third team implemented cultural heritage
project that intended to transmit the ancient long song from
the culture-bearer to younger generation. One member of
the team is a professional long song singer T.Baatarkhuu
and the team visited one of the famous elder herder and
long song singer G.Dadisuren who lives in Deren Soum of
the Dundgobi province. The long song singer G.Dadisuren
started singing the long song at age of five and he is one of
the few long song singer who is the culture-bearer Borjigon's
style of long song. The length of the song has minimum three
and maximum of 32 episodes, but at the moment, there are
many of the verses are not complete, and generally known
just to start the song and enjoy the melody. Therefore, the
purpose of this project is to visit the herder G.Dadisuren and
learn to sing the entire long song with its’ original style. The
project was implemented in two phases. First, the project
team has learned from the culture-bearer, then taught and
transmitted the knowledge and technique of long song to
the students of Mongolian Conservatory who interested in
singing and studying the long song.
Fourth team implemented art education project called
“Art Arbor”. The project goal was to distribute art education
to young people and to prepare permanent audiences for
galleries. The fellows of this team have organized several
art lectures and events for youth and children at National
Modern Art Gallery. For example, “Art painting and my
portrait”, “How to read paintings”, “Meet Morin khuur
player” and “Art therapy for kids”. Those art events reached
over 300 audiences.
On May 30th 2019,ACM fellows will graduate theACM
Fellowship program and will present their results of the
community projects as mentioned above for public. ACM
is deeply appreciating the participation of the fellows and
contribution of the project partners of the ACM Fellowship
Program.

Arts Council of Mongolia (ACM) is an arts and culture NGO, established by Mongolian arts, civic, and business leaders in 2002 with the support of the Mongolian Foundation for an Open Society (Soros Foundation). Its mission is to support the sustainable development of Mongolian arts and culture and the preservation of cultural heritage. ACM promotes artistic excellence; preserves Mongolian cultural heritage; promotes creativity of youth and children; and brings arts to the public. In 2018-2019, ACM is organizing the 11th edition of ACM Fellowship program with support of ACM-US that aims to enhance their leadership and arts management skills, and promote their collaboration. This year, the program has involved 20 emerging young leaders from film, visual art, performing art, cultural heritage and media fields and enhanced their networking and practical experience by attending more than 22 series of trainings on leadership, strategic planning, project management and marketing, fundraising, copyright and intellectual property, cultural policy and governance. Furthermore, the program provides leadership and efficient team work skills for its participants by providing practical opportunity to execute joint small scale of community service project. ACM Fellows granted with amount of $600 to implement four different joint community service projects which were aimed to encourage arts access and arts education for youth and community. The first team has implemented the “Little Heroes” project which focused to inspire children with cancer through creating a children’s picture book. They have cooperated with the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at National Maternal and Child Health Center. The project also provided a series of art activities for those children. Such as “My Hero” a painting workshop held on 21st of March, “Cartoon day” organized on 28th of March, “Fairy Tale” puppet show was played on 11th of April. The main outcome of this project, the “Little Heroes” book launch will be held on 16th of May, 2019. Second team implemented the "Rhythm of Silence" contemporary dance production project for deaf children. Music is everywhere. Some of them can’t hear it. But deep in their heart, they always feel the rhythm. On this project of dance, fellows collaborated with the school #29 of children with special needs. Students divided into groups and learned their favorite types of dances. On April 25th, the project team gathered the students, their parents and teachers at Ancore Concert Hall to present the result of their project. The students who participated in the project performed on the stage and showed what they can, what they can do. By understanding through body language, they have learned how to portray a message using body movements, and how to interpret body signals from others. Some people has ears however they never truly understand what music is. But these children were feeling the music with their body and mind, and were dedicating themselves into it. Third team implemented cultural heritage project that intended to transmit the ancient long song from the culture-bearer to younger generation. One member of the team is a professional long song singer T.Baatarkhuu and the team visited one of the famous elder herder and long song singer G.Dadisuren who lives in Deren Soum of the Dundgobi province. The long song singer G.Dadisuren started singing the long song at age of five and he is one of the few long song singer who is the culture-bearer Borjigon's style of long song. The length of the song has minimum three and maximum of 32 episodes, but at the moment, there are many of the verses are not complete, and generally known just to start the song and enjoy the melody. Therefore, the purpose of this project is to visit the herder G.Dadisuren and learn to sing the entire long song with its’ original style. The project was implemented in two phases. First, the project team has learned from the culture-bearer, then taught and transmitted the knowledge and technique of long song to the students of Mongolian Conservatory who interested in singing and studying the long song. Fourth team implemented art education project called “Art Arbor”. The project goal was to distribute art education to young people and to prepare permanent audiences for galleries. The fellows of this team have organized several art lectures and events for youth and children at National Modern Art Gallery. For example, “Art painting and my portrait”, “How to read paintings”, “Meet Morin khuur player” and “Art therapy for kids”. Those art events reached over 300 audiences. On May 30th 2019,ACM fellows will graduate theACM Fellowship program and will present their results of the community projects as mentioned above for public. ACM is deeply appreciating the participation of the fellows and contribution of the project partners of the ACM Fellowship Program. “Whoarewe?”ExhibitionbyZazaa 'TothehistoryoftheBerlinairlift'children’scontemporarydanceperformance ACMsuccessfullyimplementedFellowshipprogramforthe11thyear
