With the support of the European
Union National Institutes for Culture
(EUNIC), The âNogoonbaatarâ
International Eco-Art Festival launched
its activities between March 5 to April
26, 2021. The festival aims to raise
awareness on the health impacts of air
pollution in Ulaanbaatar city and to
engage people with green attitudes and
initiatives through inspirational public
art programs.
Under the heading âNogoonÂ
baatar International Eco Art Festivalâ
Arts Council of Mongolia (ACM) has
announced âFresh Air & Blue Sky!â
online drawing competition (in April
2021) designed to raise awareness
about air pollution among children.
The drawing competition was held
online among children, aged between
8 and 12, who live in the ger district
of Ulaanbaatar. 111 children from 35
khoroos of 7 districts of Ulaanbaatar
submitted their works to the drawing
contest and illustrated their talents and
creative thinking. On the basis of votes
collected from Nogoonbaatar festival
team judges, 20 winners have been
selected. Basic selection criteria included
the strength of the artworksâ creativity,
and essays provided by participants and
social media reach. However, due to
the pandemic situation of Covid-19 in
Mongolia, the award ceremony has been
postponed.
MotionMongoliaInternationalContemporaryDanceFestivalisbeingorganized
ACM in collaboration with
the Mongolian Ballet Program /
MBP/ is organizing the second
Motion Mongolia International
Contemporary Dance Festival
under the theme of âThe Rhythm of
Cityâ.
The festival aims to contribute
to the development of modern
dance, to build capacity of
professional dancers and expand
international partnerships of
the sector. The festival is being
organized online through the official
festival facebook page www.
facebook.com/motionmongolia,
starting from April 26, 2021. The
opening performance was âThe
Rhythm of Cityâ choreographed
by Damchaabadgar Yo. from MBP.
The International Dance Program
presents six works by artists from
Croatia, USA, Canada, Poland,
South Korea and Mongolia.
Also, the works of the Mongolian
dancers' competition group were
presented online. In addition, as
part of the festival, documentaries
ââDraw a lineââ /2019/, âPinaâ
/2011/ about the lives and works
of world renowned choreographers
were broadcasted via Look TV for
public screening.
The winners of the âThe
Rhythm of Cityâ Competition
for Mongolian dancers have been
announced. Best Choreographer
of the festival is Nomin-erdene N.
choreographer of âLast one Danceâ
studio, Best Female Dancer of the
festival is Duurenjargal Ch. dancer
of MBP, Best Male Dancer of the
festival is Bayarbaatar N. dancer
of âDark Circles Contemporary
Danceâ company in Korea.
Canadian dancer Desiree Rondeau
won Audience Award of the
international dance program for
her performance âConnais Toiâ.
Also we are planning to organize
master classes by American
choreographers Joe Allegado and
Richard Siegal, choreographer
Yen Ching Lin from the British
dance company Akram Khan and
Mongolian artists Munguntsetseg
M., Sodgerel T., Battuul P., during
May 28-30, 2021.
ACM launched its âArtist
of the Yearâ program in 2019 to
support and cooperate with artists
from various art fields and to
promote them through creative
artistic collaboration. ACM has
announced the 2021 âArtist of the
Yearâ program in art disciplines:
music; art criticism; journalism;
traditional art; and fine arts,
design and media art.
In 2021-2022 ACM selected
the following artists, including
Composer, producer, leader of
âAltan Uragâ band Erdenebat B.,
Literary researcher and journalist
Byambanyam U., Embroidery
artist Gantsetseg S., Graphic
designer, comic artist Bilguun
B., Artists from the âKhukh zewâ
artists' association.
With the support of ACM,
these artists will be able to
promote their artistic works to the
public using ACMâs âRed Gerâ
Creative Space by organising
various events and activities
throughout the year. Also, artists
will be invited to take part in
ACMâs event activities to promote
and to enrich their profile.

Since April 2021, ACM has been initiating and organizing a series
of âRed Ger Dayâ creative activities and events to promote culture
and art to the public.
Red Ger Day takes place every Thursday at 4:00 pm. It hosts a
series of creative events including art and culture lectures, meetings
with artists, training, film screenings, book and poetry readings, and
art therapy sessions. Events will be organized online or physically,
depending on the lockdown regulations.
May 2021 âRed Ger Dayâ will be organized online according to the
following schedule:
-"MONGOL ZURAG Today"- Artists from âMongol Zurag
Societyâ artist Gerelkhuu G., and Munkhtuul N., teacher of Mongol
Zurag at the Children's Creativity Center /May 6th/
-"Way to become a Curator"âart researcher and coach Tsetsegbadam
B. /May 13th/
-"Letâs Discuss Print Making" â artist Suren Kh. / May 20th/
-"Development of Decorative Art and modern times" â Baatartsogt
N., decorative art teacher at the Children's Creativity Center / May 27th/
The fee for each âRed Ger Dayâ event will be MNT 10,000.
