Energy efficiency is a power house job creator. Recent research from ACEEE finds that changes to Pennsylvania’s energy efficiency laws could deliver more than 30,000 jobs to the Commonwealth. What do these jobs look like, and how do we make them a reality?

4. Where is Pennsylvania today?
Where could Pennsylvania go in the future?
What would the economic impacts be?
What can we learn about ramping up programs?
10. DEEPER
• ACEEE’s input-output model
• Tracks changes in demand for goods and
services across the Pennsylvania economy
• Determines how much output from each economic sector is
required to meet that demand.
• Determines how much labor is required to produce that
output and how much state gross domestic product (GDP) is
associated with that change in demand.
• We report net jobs
• Accounts for both jobs created and jobs lost
13. What kinds of jobs?
• Industries that implement energy efficiency
measures
• Construction and related industries
• Supply chains
• Service sector, including retail industries
17. 2

Four Seasons Produce, Inc.
Four Season’s most recent Energy Policy states “We will engage our associates in energy
awareness and implement innovative yet proven cost saving methods to reduce our energy use,
conserve resources, and improve the environment.” This overarching strategy was refined into five
goals:
•Reduce energy intensity by 5% each year from the previous year.
•Implement 3 or 4 energy efficient ideas each year.
•Track energy usage including electrical & natural gas for efficiency measurement.
•Pursue specific methods to have our energy use more visible to all associates.
•Increase associate energy awareness and participation in reducing energy across the Four
Seasons Family of Companies.
