FC man, several militants killed in Awaran clash

QUETTA - One personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) was killed and two others were wounded
while several militants were killed in Awaran district after FC carried out a search operation
against Baloch militants in Awaran district, on Tuesday.Baloch National Movement (BNM)
claimed a huge operation was carried out in Awaran.According to a Press release of FC issued
here stated that the terrorists of Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) attacked a convoy of FC
near Mahi village on December 24th when it was heading towards Mashkay from
Khuzdar. "The terrorists of BLF martyred two FC personnel in the attack,"it said.The Press
release said that FC after permission and directives of provincial government carried out
action in surroundings of Mashkay in which many terrorists were killed while their two camps
were completely destroyed while a personnel of FC was also martyred in the operation.FC
Press release stated that the BLF terrorists on the directives of Dr Allah Nazar were spreading

4. terror in Khuzdar, Maskay and Mekran by carrying out bomb blasts, target killing,
kidnappings for ransom and other crimes on behest of anti-State elements.On the other hand,
talking to media BNM central Chairman Khalil Baloch said that an operation was carried out
in different parts of Awaran district, in which helicopters were also used.Officials in
Balochistan government also confirmed action in some areas of Awaran by law-enforcement
agencies against anti-social elements but did not give details of losses and damages during the
action.

dozens abducted, Area still under siege
Occupied Balochistan (26/12/12 ): Situation in war torn Balochisatan is worsening by every
passing moment. Current wave of military aggression in Mashkay turned even tragic by leaving at least 31 innocents
killed behind. Several Balochs including women and children have suffered critical injuries due to indiscriminate
firing of Pakistani military. Dozens of Baloch nationals have been abducted from the area by military.Villages of Mahi
and Hairy have been completely vanished by the shelling. Surviv ors were forced to live shelter-less in the Mashkay
graveyard in harsh cold weather. Death toll may arise due to weather conditions and shortage of food and water.
Though there is a dire need of humanitarian aid including lifesaving drugs but military has denied any one to enter
the area.
People of the adjoining areas confirmed 31 killed and several wounded including women and children in heavy
artillery shelling. Mr. Mir Sahoo S/o Rehmat, Mr. Ali Jan S/o Mir Sahoo, Mr. Khuda Bakhsh S/o Noor
Muhammad, Mr. Sad Ganj Sahoo, Mr. Jameel Baloch, Ms. Khair Bibi (70 year old ), Ms. Lal Bibi, Ms. Nazul, Ms.
Haleema, Ms. Ganj Khatoo, Ms. MahnazNoor Muhammad, Ms. Gul Bibi, Ms. Sara Ali Jan, Master Sakhi Dad (2 year
old), Baby Labo (1 year old), Master Bakhshi (4 year ) are among the killed. Mr. Sher Jan, Mr. Kareem Jan, Mr. Badal,
Mr. Bakhshia Baloch, two infants and Mother of v eteran Baloch leader Dr.Allah Nazar Baloch are among the critically
wounded.

5. Military has whisked away dozens of y outh, including Arz Muhammad Baloch, Shah Baig Baloch and Naeem Baloch.
Military has dumped the mutilated dead body of Arz Muhammad Baloch in Mashkay Bazar a few hour ago, he was
abducted last evening. Nothing is known about the lives of other abductees.
Military aggression in Mashkay is gaining momentum since its start from 72 hours, but media is still silent upon the
tragedy. Toappeal the international bodies for intervention,Baloch nation is protesting continuously.

SAN SEBASTIAN, Spain, Oct 26 2012 (IPS) - Fighters in the Balochistan province ofPakistan will soon setup a
common frontto take on the Pakistani militaryin their fight for Baloch independence,a senior commander ofthe
Balochistan Liberation Fronttells IPS in an interview.
"We are in full coordination with all Baloch resistance movements and we are soon to form a united command,"Dr.
Allah Nazar, a doctor turned guerrilla fighter tells IPS in the interview on the phone earlier this month.
Divided by the borders of Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan,Baloch have their own language,and live across a land
the size of France they call "Balochistan."The rugged terrain under their feet boasts enormous reserves ofgas,gold
and copper, and untapped oil and uranium.But this is also the mostunderdeveloped region across these countries.

Baloch insurgents in Pakistan are fragmented into several groups,mainlythe Baloch Liberation Army, the Baloch
Republican Army, the Baloch Liberation Front and the Lashkar-e-Balochistan (Balochistan's army).Several analysts
say this fragmentation reflects the tribal elementamong the Baloch.But the groups are all secular,and share a
common agenda in seeking independence for Balochistan.
This IPS reporter interviewed Dr Nazar on the phone after extended visits earlier to the three parts of the region
(Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan) in 2009 and 2010.Excerpts from the interview:
How would you describe the group you lead?

8. In the Baloch Liberation Front there are people from all walks of life, from peasants to doctors.There are more than
6,000 fighters in our ranks and the number is growing bythe day. The BLF is waging a guerrilla war inside East
Balochistan which is under Pakistani control.
Do you coordinate with Jundullah ("Army of God") – the Baloch insurgent movement in neighbouring Iran?
We know the people fighting in Jundullah are also Baloch butwe have no relation with them.Ours is a pure
nationalistwar,miles awayfrom Jundullah´s religious extremism.
Islamabad has always claimed that the Baloch resistance is been backed by India.
That´s justfake propaganda from Pakistani state media in order to show the world that the Baloch are proxies.India
is not supporting us.
Pakistan controlled Balochistan has a provincial government. Why have you taken up an armedstruggle
and not parliamentary politics?
We had been declared an independentstate from Pakistan in August1947,even before Pakistan came into
existence.Seven months later,Pakistan occupied our land by force. From the firstday the Baloch have not accepted
the occupation of Pakistan,so our struggle is a continuation of the struggle ofour forefathers.Parliamentmakes laws
brutally againstBaloch national identity,our culture and language.And the Supreme Court is legitimising the brutality
of the State.
Some Baloch leaders speak of self-determination and not independence.
Leaders such as Akhtar Mengal – former chief minister ofthe province and leader of the Mengal clan and head of
the Balochistan National Partyare calling for "national self-determination",butthat's still a vague term. Self-
determination has a broad meaning and itcan implythat we remain inside the state.But we have our own history, our
own language,our own national identity and so we want our freedom.
What do you think of the Freedom Charter, a road map for Balochistan independence supported by leaders
like Hyrbyair Marri, the London-based tribal and political leader?
The Freedom Charter is a very good step as taken by Hyrbyair Marri. All Baloch fighting for freedom should suport
the Freedom Charter.
Islamabad claims that projects such as Gwadar's deep water harbour would boost the economy of
Balochistan.
The Gwadar project has been planned in the interestof Punjabi and colonial powers and notfor the welfare of
Baloch people.It´s meantto bring demographic change in Balochistan;they wantto bring in the Muhajirs –
immigrants – and other people into Balochistan in order to unbalance demography.Gwadar is a death warrantfor
Baloch people.
The Baloch say the government in Islamabad is trying to Talibanise Balochistan in order to quell the
Baloch nationalist movement.
That's true. Balochs are basicallysecular,by their culture, by their tradition,by their historical background,so the
Pakistani regime is trying to Talibanise the Baloch society.Just where I am right now, the ISI – the Pakistani secret
service – has setup two religious militantgroups againstthe Baloch national struggle:one is Ansar-al-Islam and the
other is Tahafuz-e-Hadoodullah (Protectors ofGod's Rule).
They have formed these groups in the name ofIslam buttheir real aim is to crush the Baloch freedom movement.
Pakistan is the cradle of the Taliban and the breeding ground ofthe Taliban.Pakistan is nourishing and funn eling the
Taliban and Al-Qaeda terrorists into Afghanistan,India, Saudi Arabia, Yemen… Pakistan is an irresponsible state that
is putting the civilised world in danger. A free Baloch state would therefore be in the interestof the whole civilised
world.

9. Washington is reconsidering a pullout from Afghanistan due for 2014. How will this affect the Af-Pak
region?
If America and NATO pull out from Afghanistan,that will lead to turbulence and destabilisation.A weak Afghanistan
will not only destabilise the region butit will be harmful for the whole civilised world.
