2. 2GreeNET Facebook Contest / Concept
Background
GreeNET on Facebook
The creation of a social network among the GreeNET target audiences is more than just
installing those two social media channels (Facebook and Twitter). Until now these two tools
were used to support the efficient and quick distribution of project news and materials, as
both tools – Facebook and Twitter – serve as online multipliers. GreeNET currently has a
small but active fan base of 173 fans.

GreeNET and Green Jobs
One of the main objectives of GreeNET (besides an inventory of educational scenarios and a
network of teachers and experts) is:
“To successfully and permanently link environmental education to career contexts. To
address future skills’ needs, the focus is on tackling major challenges by properly
training the next generation to correspond to major issues such as sustainable
development and climate change, and make sound decisions for their future careers.”
The green economy offers a path to sustainable development with the potential for new jobs
and career opportunities. Within this context the GreeNET project believes that the youth is
an essential agent of change in society, and we believe they are particularly important in the
context of the green economy. So early awareness of young people about green economy
and jobs is one of our main concerns . It is therefore of utmost importance to further promote
green career contexts and to collect as many ideas as possibly on how to encourage the
youth of today to take green jobs in the future.
3. 3GreeNET Facebook Contest / Concept
Contest
Motto:
“The future belongs to the young people who create it”
Intention of the contest:
With the contest we want to encourage our Facebook fans to worry about this topic (green
careers) and to present us their ideas or scenarios on how to link environmental education to
green career contexts.
Task:
All participants have to write a short text (no more than 500 words) about the following
question:
“How to shape environmental education for young people, so that their interest in the
environment sector of the economy rises?”
The answer to that can be games for young people, excursions with students etc.- creativity
has no limits here. And of course it’s ok to add pictures as well.
The texts (and pictures) have to be uploaded on the GreeNET Facebook page tab “Notes” –
see the following screenshots:
First click on the tab “Notes”
And then click on “Write Note”
After finishing click on “publish”.
