Past: As a product designer, I was trained not only to design for but also with users. I wondered whether design errors could be avoided by involving the end-users of healthcare buildings in an early phase of the design process. I developed a method, graduated and nowadays bring this into practice at 4Building. This method focusses not only on explicit wishes and needs, but reveals information that lays just below the surface. It is the tacit and latent information, carried by those who work and live in the healthcare building, that is needed in order to design the perfect healthcare building.
