Timeline & Narrative (15 percent)Description: For this assignment, you will trace your own
educational history in relation to thethemes explored in class throughout the first five
weeks of class. You will do this with a one-page timeline that traces your schooling through
High School. This timeline will also highlightconnections to themes explored in the course
to date. You will supplement your visualrepresentation with a brief (3 minute) narrative in
which you will describe and discuss theconnection between your experience, your
educational community and the content (citingcourse texts).As part of this work, you are
required to do research on your local school, community andfamily. You will engage in this
research during the asynchronous sessions that take placeweeks one through five. This
research should be reflected in your final submission. You will alsoneed to submit a list of
the resources you gathered during those sessions (these can be thesame as what you submit
for your weekly journal, just organized into one document).Assignment components:• (at
least) four detailed experiences from K-12 schooling.• (at least) four major national and
local events that influenced their education, drawingclear connections between the two.
(for example, board of education votes on budgetcuts, school lockdown or the introduction
of the common core)• Reference to at least three- course readings and draws a clear
connection between thereading and their experiences and the educational events. You may
use up to onemultimedia material like a podcast or video assigned in the course.• Accurate
APA citations for all resources (class readings and external resources – theseare the
resources that inform you of the major events you will include in your timeline)• A
recording where you share your timeline in more detail. The video should not be morethan
15 seconds over or under 3 minutes.Our relationship to education is different so there are
no expectations with regards to whichsignificant schooling experiences or events you focus
on, the focus of this exercise is to reflectand make connections between your experiences
and the course content.The timeline can be designed by hand or using software like
PowerPoint or Word; you can useLoom, a screen recorder, to record your audio over your

(for example, board of education votes on budgetcuts, school lockdown or the introduction of the common core)• Reference to at least three- course readings and draws a clear connection between thereading and their experiences and the educational events. You may use up to onemultimedia material like a podcast or video assigned in the course.• Accurate APA citations for all resources (class readings and external resources – theseare the resources that inform you of the major events you will include in your timeline)• A recording where you share your timeline in more detail. The video should not be morethan 15 seconds over or under 3 minutes.Our relationship to education is different so there are no expectations with regards to whichsignificant schooling experiences or events you focus on, the focus of this exercise is to reflectand make connections between your experiences and the course content.The timeline can be designed by hand or using software like PowerPoint or Word; you can useLoom, a screen recorder, to record your audio over your image.
