5. ROI & Shareholder Value vs.
Charity
• Corporate engagement with our community is now about ROI
and increased shareholder value. Time to move away from
charity or only Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
• Improvements pursued by a corporation to streamline their
process for improved accessibility and inclusion within its
workforce are providing differentiators for brands.
• Brands must realize that these efforts provide increased
productivity for its employees and better solutions for their
customers (with and without disabilities). Equating to positive
ROI. Resulting in competitive advantages and larger returns
to the Shareholders.

6. Business and SDGs
5
Businesses, government and civil society must play an active role in
collaborative solutions to address the world’s most pressing societal
challenges described in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“Unilever’s whole business model is geared towards the SDGs, and that all
300 brands they have globally are to the purpose of the SDGs. Consumer
goods giant Unilever promotes and exemplifies the idea that if a company
wants to be prosperous in the long-term, putting sustainability at the heart of
its business model makes perfect sense.” Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever
SDGs
7. Diversity and Intersectionality
We must remember to encourage inclusion of all voices in the
global diversity, and inclusion community movements. For
example, Women’s movements should embrace and include
women with disabilities. The LGBTQ movement must including
community members that are also disabled. Plus embrace other
movements like Neurodiversity. We are Stronger Together!!!

Hearing Loss

Doppler Labs’ Here One buds in white
The combination wireless earbuds and smart device is able to take in
ambient sound through microphones, then filter out background
noises and enhance speech—doing essentially what a hearing aid
does.
KR Liu, Google
“We really believe that accessibility
and reaching those consumers is
important, but we haven’t been
able to [reach them] due to
regulation.” KR Liu
By setting their sights on users with both mild
and moderate hearing loss, Doppler, Bose, and
other companies are inexorably blurring the
line between professional-grade devices and
lifestyle products. Starkey’s Halo 2 hearing aids, costing
up to $10,000.

16. Digital Inclusion
Digital inclusion is an economic imperative for every community. We
must all have access to reliable, affordable internet or the digital
divide continues to widen.
These digital inclusion issues are impacting Rural Communities,
disenfranchised communities, including persons with disabilities, and
many people in developing countries.
15
Sara Ruh
As we move towards 5G – society must
assure access to robust and affordable
Internet around the world.
Access allows communities to thrive
socially, economically, encourages
innovation, and broadens opportunities.
17. • Integrating persons with disabilities into an
organization’s workplace, marketing/branding
efforts, and accessibility of products and services.

Seamless Integration
• These efforts are good for
the bottom-line and the
brand’s image.
• Societies function better
when everyone has the
opportunity to contribute and
participate.

18. In Conclusion: Direct Path to the
Community
• Advance technology has created a new model that has
broken down barriers to this Global Community of PwD’s,
family and friends. The community is active, engaged, and
is a strong purchasing power.
• A direct bidirectional path to consumers with disabilities.
• Model that is Business to Consumer and Consumer direct
to Business.
• This is due in great part to the
advancements with Social media
being a critical global marketing
platform.
