While there is good progress being made rolling out VoLTE,
there is no clear monetisation opportunity.
There are still comparisons being made with OTT and VoLTE is
being billed as competitor to OTT but it’s the same as
comparing ‘apples to oranges’.
Nobody seemed to mention that international texts / calling using OTT
is free
VoLTE is already complex to implement and roll out; SRVCC is
even more complicated, best to avoid if possible.
Its still not clear which VoLTE roaming solution will win.
VoWiFi is working much better than anticipated. Since being
supported in iPhone 6/6+, its really caught on.
Its good to see some operators are aware of disruptive
technologies like WebRTC but are they prepared?
