Final thoughts © The 3G4G Blog – blog.3g4g.co.uk 54  While there is good progress being made rolling out VoLTE, there is no clear monetisation opportunity.  There are still comparisons being made with OTT and VoLTE is being billed as competitor to OTT but it’s the same as comparing ‘apples to oranges’.  Nobody seemed to mention that international texts / calling using OTT is free  VoLTE is already complex to implement and roll out; SRVCC is even more complicated, best to avoid if possible.  Its still not clear which VoLTE roaming solution will win.  VoWiFi is working much better than anticipated. Since being supported in iPhone 6/6+, its really caught on.  Its good to see some operators are aware of disruptive technologies like WebRTC but are they prepared?
