Lift and Weight <ul><li>Issac Newton’s Law: Every Action has an equal and opposite reaction. </li></ul><ul><li>How can air support an aircraft </li></ul><ul><li>Air is a substance, so it exerts a force. </li></ul><ul><li>Blow between two pieces of paper, they get sucked together not blown apart </li></ul>
  3. 3. Wind Tunnel Tests <ul><li>Air has to travel round the constriction (B) so it travels faster </li></ul><ul><li>As it is travelling faster the air pressure drops </li></ul><ul><li>Airspeed up and air pressure increases again at C </li></ul>
  4. 4. Lift <ul><li>Blowing over a piece of paper lifts it up. </li></ul><ul><li>The pressure above is lower than below </li></ul><ul><li>This lifts the paper up. </li></ul><ul><li>The same applies for an aerofoil or wing. </li></ul>
