6. CONSTRUCTION
R1 R2 connected in series
Sudden change in volt., such as switching operation,
flashover of the test objects, source short circuits,
damage may occur to the divider element due to stray
capacitance and ground capacitance across the
elements.
These are can be avoided by volt. Controlling
capacitors across the elements.
Due to volt. Divider arrangement the influence of
temp. and voltage can be eliminated.
Corona free termination is done to avoid unnecessary
discharges at high voltage ends.
At 100kv accuracy is up to-0.05%, and in 300kv, 500kv
accuracy is 0.1%,0.5% respectively.

DC voltages are measured using resistance
voltage divider

High DC voltage applied.
Drop across R1
Measure the voltage directly across R2
But if the volt. Exceeds 1000kv,problems
arises like heat due to power dissipation,
leakage current, change in resistance due to
temp. variation.
