What does Fears About Computer Technology Mean? Also referred to as Technophobia Means fear or dislike of computers or technology *1
Information Technology Cyber fraud is many different types of illegal activity through the internet which is also tightly connected to Identity theft *2
Information Technology Trying to contact a person through fraudulent emails to retrieve information from you Credit card theft which has been on the rise quite a bit in the past 10 years *3
Information Technology Common types of Credit card fraud Counterfeit – Duplicating another persons credit card in order to steal money No card present – Having information about the card to use over the internet Identity theft – Using a credit card with another falsified identification can result in another person using all your information and identity at their disposal
Information Technology Many times confidential/government intelligence get passed around and often leaked Causes many problems on highly classified information getting into the wrong hands *4
Industrial Technology Technology was made to make lives easier in many forms People started to use it to build and create products faster and better then a human can *5
Industrial Technology As the technology in the industrial world blooms the jobs that once was made by man is slowly disintegrating The impact out be having many people lose there jobs *6
Experimental Technology Many different technologies are out and available for the public, but there are many that are not People may see some of these things as very dangerous and unstable *7
Experimental Technology The Large Hadron Collider Made by European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) Spans about 100m underground from France to Switzerland It’s a particle accelerator use to study small particles that are the building blocks of everything
Experimental Technology http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjHals9hDz0 *8
Hypothetical Technology Nanorobotic Are small robots the size of a nanometer They would work on a microscopic level and would works as if they were ants in a colony *9
Hypothetical Technology Can be used for many things like Medical Construction But they can also be used to destroy cities or even the world as “grey goo” *10
Artificial Intelligence Artificial Intelligence or “AI” is a level of intelligence give to machines or computers Some people and scientist are afraid of what come out of it *11
Artificial Intelligence Hollywood has taken these fears and made popular movies out of them like The Matrix 2001: A Space Odyssey The Terminator *12
Weapon Technology Weapon Technology is one of the deadliest way to use technology In the past and present who ever had more technology was ahead For the past the best thing was RADAR (Radio Detection And Ranging) Another one would the atomic bomb
Weapon Technology Weapon technology has surpassed itself 3 times over since the first inventions Take the F-117 and The B - 2 bother aircrafts can not be detected by radar *13 B-2 F-117 *14
Weapon Technology If people fear common day weapon technology and it keeps advancing there's only going to be more things to be afraid of like orbital laser satellite, explosives the size of marbles *15
Summary We only covered a few things in this presentation like: Cyber Fraud Confidential Intelligence Job Loss Experimental Technology And from this we can see there is a lot of reasons to see why people are afraid of the things they are.
Conclusion Therefore with all the technology and computer technology in the world is easy to see why some people are scared as they are because of how dangerous it really is. *16
