The Greatest Leadership Lesson of All
Dear Friends,
FreeLife is on an incredibly important mission to improve the health and financial well-being
of people all around the world. There has never been a company like us that truly combines
the most cutting-edge, scientifically proven nutritional products along with a no-risk
opportunity to become financially secure by sharing the good news of these products with
others. We are a service-based company that has the greatest mission statement of any
company I have ever seen, "To serve each other by promoting good health, well-being, and
the opportunity for an abundant life." That mission statement simply says it all.
One of the primary keys to our success has been great field leadership. I have said many,
many times that I believe we have the greatest Marketing Executives in the Direct Selling
industry. And each day more and more great Leaders join with us.
Over the years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with and watch our very
best Leaders. Leaders who have grown their business to amazing heights and positively
impacted so many others with our products and opportunity. While these Leaders come
with many different backgrounds, skills, and experiences, I have learned that they all do
share one very consistent, common trait . . . they lead by example!

Leading by example is one of the most important leadership traits I have ever seen. It’s
crucial to your success in FreeLife. You simply can’t ask anyone in your Organization to do
something that you are not doing. It simply won’t work. People will do what you do, not
what you say. When what you say is not reinforced with actions that show you practice
what you preach, you lose all credibility with your Organization and the enthusiasm and
energy of your Organization will wither like a dying plant.
Here are three of the most significant ways I see our top Leaders leading by example and
taking their Organizations to new heights:
1. Great Leaders earn in the Service Pool each and every month. The whole key to
building a large and successful FreeLife Organization is enrolling and duplicating. Our
most successful Leaders realize that not only is earning in the Service Pool great for
increasing their income (see page 6 this month’s Living The FreeLife for our Top 30
earners), but they know that if they expect others in their group to enroll and
duplicate and earn in the Service Pool, they too must enroll and duplicate and earn
in the Service Pool.
On the cover of the August 2009 Living The FreeLife are pictured our top
Ambassadors from around the world who earned in our enhanced Service Pool in the
month of June. They are leading the charge by leading by example. Our most
successful Leaders realize that they must walk their talk if they want duplication to

4. happen in their Organizations.
2. Great Leaders attend all Company events. The FreeLife business is built upon the
belief, knowledge, and enthusiasm of our Leaders. Great Leaders know that in order
to build those key elements in their Organizations, Marketing Executives must
attend all Company events. That includes business launches, Leadership Retreats,
monthly conference calls, Company-sponsored trainings, etc. Great Leaders know
that if they promote these events to their groups, but don’t attend themselves, they
are sending the wrong message and it reverberates throughout their Organizations.
All of our great Leaders know the importance of attending Company events and do
so all the time. They lead by example.
The most important event of the year is right around the corner—our Abundance ’09
Convention in Phoenix from September 10-12. I cannot emphasize enough that this
will be the most important, most historic, and most fun Convention we have ever
had! There is absolutely, positively no way that any serious Leader, serious new
business builder, or serious new prospect can afford to miss this event. What will
take place at Abundance ’09 will absolutely put your business on a rocket ship that
will drive your business forward faster than ever before! Great Leaders know that
not only must they attend Convention, but they must also raise the expectation in
their group that if a Marketing Executive expects to receive support and training
from them, they too must attend Convention. That’s how important Convention is.
3. Great Leaders are ALWAYS positive! There are so many benefits to being a positive
thinker. Research demonstrates that positive thinkers have better health, happiness,
improved relationships, and greater success. Great Leaders know this. They know
that if they want their group to be positive, they too must consistently act and be
positive. And when that happens, those Leaders achieve greater success and growth
in FreeLife.
Positive thinking is contagious. People see it and feel it and want to be around
positive people. When you are a positive thinker you are able to turn lemons into
lemonade. You can look at the positive of any situation. I know it’s not always easy
to be positive, but great Leaders work on this every day.
Here are a few tips to help you cultivate the most positive attitude possible:
1. Use positive words as much as possible. Avoid the use of negative words and
especially avoid complaining!
2. Look at any situation in your life or FreeLife business and find the positive in it.
3. Visualize your success each and every day.
4. Read from inspiring, positive books for at least 15 minutes every day.
5. Avoid watching negative TV programs or reading newspapers filled with negativity.
Watch only uplifting, inspiring shows.
6. Associate with positive people only.
7. Exercise for at least 20 minutes each day. Even walking is great to lift your spirits. I
am a big fan of walking as it is easy to do anywhere and has low impact on the
joints. Plus, I listen to uplifting recordings on my iPod while I walk.
I encourage all Marketing Executives who want to achieve growth and success in FreeLife to
begin practicing these traits of great Leaders. Lead your group by example and watch your
business grow to heights you never imagined.
